The Story Of Us

I don't like this, I really don't. But I said I would have something up on the 20th and that didn't happen, so I wanted to get something up before the new year. Hopefully you guys like this as far as a beginning goes.

Prologue:

~~~~Riley's P.o.v.~~~~
"Damn, stupid, retarded-how the hell is this stupid thing supposed to work!?" Chase glowered down at the computer in his lap, making as if he was going to throw the contraption across the patio. My brother shifted his glower to me when I snatched my baby out of his humongous hands, hugging it to my chest.
"To make the damn thing work, Chase, you actually have to be smarter than it." I snicker at the offended, pure male look on his face and sit down beside him. "What exactly were you trying to do, besides murdering my computer?"
A blush stained his cheeks and I watched in shock as my older brother refused to meet my eyes. "Nothing, I just-you know. I was bored, this party of yours isn't exactly entertaining." He cleared his throat, frowning disapprovingly around the near empty backyard.
I say near because the only people still here were my young cousins who were watching the clown my parents had hired in awe. All the friends I'd had before today had left within the first hour, laughing and now the only ones left were the people whose parents were friends with my parents. They couldn't exactly leave without getting grief for it, but its still embarrassing as hell.
"That's not my fault. You're the one that told them I wanted a freaking clown." I didn't even like clowns! They gave me the creeps and Chase knew it, but he's always pulling stuff like this on me. The fact that he claims to have not known our parents were going to take his joking suggestion for real didn't matter. He's known our parents for longer than I have, he had to know they would do this.
I don't think either of our parents know what to make of Chase and I growing up. The fact that they've bought us both footy pajamas the past two years for Christmas only adds to the embarrassment.
Chase put on an innocent smile, mocking amusement filling his eyes. "I thought you liked clowns! How was I supposed to know you were gonna scream like a girl when you saw one."
"I am a girl, moron. And why does it matter if I screamed? I'm not the one that peed my pants when I saw Superman." I mutter, reminding him of the party our parents had thrown him two years ago. I still have the video.
"He's freaking Superman! How can you not like him?" He asked in amazement, shaking his head from side to side. "He's incredible!"
"He's a grown man playing dress up. In tights no less. Don't you think that's a little odd?" I didn't get it, if the guy has such amazing super powers can't he afford to wear something besides tights? Or does he like having a wedgie all the time? Really, boys are so odd.
"What I think is odd is why our mother's flirting with the damn clown." My brother's forehead creases in confusion and I turn to see where our mother is only to cringe.
Gah, how far can you stick your tongue down someone's throat before they start suffocating? Because I think my mother just found that point. Ew. The fact that the clown is actually my father dressed in his work attire is totally besides the point. Its still so gross.
"I'm never having a birthday again." I groan, covering my eyes with my hands, wishing I could just up and die already.
"Why not?" Chase laughed, drawing my gaze from the palms of my hands to his too smiley face. They're his parents too, why wasn't he finding this as disturbing as I am?
