"Ow" I yelped. Kane was cuddling me in his sleep and one of his finger nails had scratched my arm. Vicious mutt. I tried to free myself from his embrace and it only tightened. Vicious ass mutt. He smelled like sweat and strawberries. What? Strawberries? Oh wait that's not him. Where's that scent coming from? Kane stirred slightly in his sleep. So much for me not being able to keep my hands off of him when he's practically squeezing the life out of every inch of my body. He's grip loosened and I breathed deeply. Damn mutt. He scratched me. He was squeezing me. He was too close to me. I couldn't help myself. I bit his neck in self defense.
"What the fu--- oh it's just you. Wait. What the fu-- you bit me? Why are you clinging to me?" Kane rushed through his words his cheeks turning slightly red. "I'm not the one squeezing every strength I have from your body." I said with anger and huffed afterwards. Kane looked around. "It's still early Red. Don't you ever sleep?" He questioned annoyed still clinging to me. I huffed and turned over in his arms away from him.
"I'm going back to sleep, okay? But when I wake up if I find you cuddling me again I'll cut your balls off you stinking mutt." I practically hissed out. He chuckled.
"I'm a mutt now? What about you? You're the one who smells. I should call you Trash instead of Red." He chuckled more. I angrily pushed him away from me.
"Call me trash and I'll call you mutt for the rest of your life." I sniped back. He chuckled more.
"Good thing you're cute or you would never find a boyfriend." More chuckles. God he's so annoying. Who the hell raised this guy anyway? I'd like to meet the awful parent who allowed this mutt to exist. I closed my eyes. Just pretend you're asleep Bell. Why would I want a boyfriend anyway? Wait. Did he just call me cute? Then all off a sudden an urge came to me. Why was I running off with this guy and trusting him? I'm so naive. What if his people want to kill the monarch? I'm not safe with someone I just met. I have no idea who he might be... I slowly got up and crept out of the tent. Oh god. How am I to know where I am in this god damn forest? I grabbed some of the leftover food and stuffed it in the bra I've been wearing. I took one of the vasks and tied it to my thigh. When I reach a stream I can refill it if I drink it all and last but not least I stole two of his daggers from him tied them on my thighs. One of them in the same strap as the vask. I bit my tongue and a bit of blood poured into my mouth. How will I ever make it on my own? I breathed in deeply.
You can not trust him Bell. He is a stranger and nothing good can come from trusting strangers. As far as everyone knows. You're pretty much dead. The few that don't believe you're gone and actually do like you would be hard to find. When my dad notices I'm gone he will send soldiers to find me. He will be convinced that I am an absolute betrayer and would personally search out rebels. Even if this guy "curly" is to be trusted. It will only get him and his group killed. The tarnished. I chuckled softly to myself. What if they just wanted me so they could use me against my kingdom and father to take over and rule. I shook my head. Doesn't matter now. I looked back into the tent and Kane was on his side, slightly curled. His soft hair sticking to his face in parts of it. A bit of blood dripped on my cheek probably from the sowed holes. It seems it doesn't quite want to heal. Kane shifted in his sleep and his scars were now visible from this area. I shivered thinking about how I'd like to kiss those scars on that beautiful face of his. Over all he was majorly attractive in a bad boy, secret past, and I've been through hell and back kind of way. Which is pretty cool. Everything that might've happened to him including the fire made him this strong and independent, funny guy. But that doesn't make him trust worthy.
Another drop of blood dropped down my cheek and neck. I wish I could just be naive even for a bit longer. Kane would have been someone I'd have liked to keep around if in different conditions. I could always tie him up and drag him with me. I chuckled at that. He'd probably be able to break the rope or tackle me while tied up. It's best if I left and tried to hide my tracks well. By the time he wakes up which will probably be and an hour or two it's almost sunrise. I hope to make it very far by then. I walked carefully and silently until I had made a mile progress from him. I was heading north. North should lead to Jarran. My brothers kingdom. He's a year younger than me. So he isn't the heir to the throne. So he got to choose his bride which happened to be to my dads likings. He married a queen and in return became a king along side of her. They were a nice couple. My brother, Madred, was tall and muscular with redish brown hair similar to mine but not quite the same. His wife, Tracy, was short and thin with no curves and her hair was black a complete contrast to her husband. But none the same they were an adorable couple and a powerful set of leaders.
As I was walking I heard noise coming from behind me. A horse coming closer. A man yelled for it to go faster and then other men yelled near by him in the same direction. My eyes widened as I saw a flash of blue and purple the colors of my kingdom. A flash of steel and I was bolting as silently as I could. Knights. My father had sent his men after me after all. And they had got my trail. Oh no. What if they found Kane. He'd have had my cell clothes with him and maybe my scent all over him from carrying me. The horses would smell it. I hope Kane's okay.. Good thing I left or I would've had been caught with him. If he indeed was caught. I climbed the biggest tree I could find as fast I could. Horses stopped at the base of the tree sniffing the ground. Men looked in all directions but up. Tied to one of the horses by a rope on his hands was Kane. He did not look pleased. He probably thought they'd catch me, my dim witted ass sooner or later and this plan would've have been for nothing. But then again I ran away from him because I didn't trust him so maybe he hopes I'll be captured. I took a chance and sat down on a branch. I cut a small piece of my shoelace off. And aimed for Kane hoping the gods that I'd only hit him and no one else would notice. I threw it and it hit him on the cheek he caught it with his tied up hands and studied it for two seconds. He looked at the Knights for a bit then stole a glance upwards at me. He smirked, then winked at me only to return his focus back to the Knights. Well better that he doesn't look up here and a knight decides to see what he is looking at. I watched as Kane quickly shoved the piece of my shoelace into his jeans. Was that a good sign?
Kane looked up fast locked eyes with me and did one little hand motion pointing north. His lips moved to form something like Jarran, Knights are going there. Then his attention returned to the men who seemed annoyed that the horses have stopped here and can't find any other traces of me. The man leading the company of knights had on a sharp gold cape and looked up in one movement. His eyes watched the trees I ducked and tried to make myself small. Eye contact. Yellow eyes looked into mine. He looked away and yelled "All clear" with a smirk on his face. They moved onward north towards my brothers kingdom and one finger was pointing towards east off of Kanes hand. His lips moved again, The Tarnished..... He stopped for a second and looked at his hands as a knight asked if he was thirsty. "No," is what he said. He then moved his lips, please... Trust me Bella. Red..... He then was shoved to walk faster by the person who had made eye contact with me and in five minutes they were completely out of range of me. I climbed down and headed east. What was with that guard. Why didn't he turn me in... Don't think about it Bell, just move on. Kane wanted me to trust him. North would be searched. I should've known my father would assume I was going to try and get aid from my brother. I should be more considerate of my options now. He would've assumed my brother found out I was alive and broke me out himself. He'd never have thought a rebel group would find me. I'm so stupid. Maybe if I had just woken Kane up and said lets get moving before sunrise instead of trying to protect myself from a stranger who had shown me no harm, we could've made it.
Blood dripped down my left cheek and formed around my right eye. Soon blood would dye my face a spotted red blotchy color. A tear dripped out of my eye. No time to cry Bella. Just keep walking. I wish I had never been thrown in a cell or if my mom was alive she would've never let it happen... Another tear. Stop Bella. Stay strong. Don't you dare cry. Bella. You are you're fathers nations only heir left. You're brothers married and you're little sister is dead. Keep moving. My feet hurt and my eyes hurt and my back hurts. Night started to fall and I was still in the forest. I breathed. This was going to be hard and you don't know where you're going girl. But you'll make it. You're the god damn princess, heir to the throne. I bit my lip. Damn Kane. Damn father. Damn, just damn. I collapsed on the ground to tired to move or anything. I fell asleep right there on the leave covered ground under the trees.
A cheetah was sitting in a tree. She jumped from branch to branch. This was her jungle. She spotted birds flying ready to hunt one and kill it. Starving and tired she leaped down giving up on one landing. She saw a kitty sleeping. This foolish animal. To sleep in a deadly forest by yourself is dangerous. This poor animal. The cat would've been eaten alive if the cheetah hadn't come. The cheetah laid down and watched the night time of the forest. The cat was breathing heavily and it twitched in its sleep. A beautiful lullaby singing the cheetah to sleep. When the sun rose she was long into her dreams.
