Mom, what is that?"
A big black object is whistling towards the Earth.
     "Mom!!"
She looks out the window with complete fear in her eyes.
     "Aisha, go. GO!"
I'm stumbling to run out the door. I have no idea what to do. I fiddle with the locks of the door. As I make it towards the glistening water, I make out the mortifying object. A nuclear bomb.
An alarm sounds in the distance. There are people running in every direction. Women with children shielding their babies, and fishermen taking their buckets of fish and running towards buildings. I turn around swiftly.
     "MOM!"
She comes out of the door right when the bomb hits about a few miles away. I am running towards the fallout shelter underground. I scramble to the ladder. The bomb impact is coming closer. Where is she?
Finally, I see her long blonde hair flying in the wind.

     "MOM, RUN! FASTER!!"
I extend my hand. The blast is just feet away. Her fingertips brush my hands as it takes her. Her head whips to the side and her body comes with her. I hear a snap.

I fall off the ladder. Falling towards the people down below. Sinking into a pit of despair as I wail.

AUTHORS NOTE

Well, hello.

I know this is kind of short compared to other stories, but it's my first book, okay? Cut me some slack.
So basically this is the Dark Days happening in District 4. And the aftermath of it, if you know what I mean. *wink wink*
