Learning To Feel Again

Chapter 10

"Wake up princess or you're going to be late" My boyfriend's voice wakes me up from my dream. 

I wiggle around a little not ready for the day to begin. I like laying in bed with Asher's arm wrapped around me. It makes me feel protected. Warm. Safe. Way to many ways to describe the feeling. 

"Come on Alex" his voice breaks the soothing quiet that is my room. 

"I don't wanna" I huff turning over onto my side. 

"Please for me?" I peek from under my pillow and think about it. 

"Nope" 

"Than you don't get your surprise" At the mention of the word surprised I jump up and smile. 

"What surprise?" 

"You'll see. Now go get ready for work." he kisses my head and gets out of my bed. Such a butthead. He did that on purpose too. 

With one last sigh I pull myself out of bed and lock my bedroom door. Thankfully I finally got a lock! After last night I will need more than a lock probably. Lucky for me I can just get Asher to sleep with me and I feel better. Like nothing can hurt me for the time being. 

I jump into the shower and wash my hair and body. I bought this shampoo that smells like pineapple and I'm so happy for it. Plus Asher loves it so it's a bonus! 

I get out of the shower and dry myself off while walking to my closet. I pull out my denim ripped jeans and a black crop top. I put on my undergarments and then get dressed. I go back into my bathroom to do my hair and make up. I let my hair air dry and go natural with my make up except for some eyeliner and lipgloss. 

Satisfied I head downstairs to be welcomed by the sound of laughing. I get closer and realizes it's just Ethan and my dad. Damn. I walk in silently and give my dad a smile. "Morning sweetie"

"Morning dad" I grab a glass and pour myself some orange juice. Delicious!

"Morning Alex" the devil speaks. I turn and give him a nod while taking a sip of my juice. 

"Where's Asher?" I look to my dad for the answer. He can be trusted. 

"Checking on your surprise" my dad gives me a wide smile and I can't help, but get a little giddy inside! I wonder what it is. 

"And that would be?" 

"You'll see" he laughs his fatherly laugh and I pout like the three year old I am. 

"That's not fair" I stomp my foot trying to hold back the laugh rising in my throat. "Why can't you just tell me?" 

"Than it wouldn't be a surprise silly" he ruffles my wet hair and wipes his hand on his shirt. 

"You're a butt"

"Who's a butt?" Asher's voice cuts in. Oh no he can't just walk in here all smiley. I won't allow it. I turn around and give him a glare. 

"I am" my dad laughs. "I won't tell her the surprise." 

"Oh that makes sense." Asher walks over to stand in front of me and smiles down at me. "Hey baby you wanna know what your surprise is?"

I quickly nod my head trying not to let it rip off from the force I just used. "Then come with me" he walks out of the kitchen and I follow in his footsteps. Ethan and Dad are right behind me too. 

We get to the front door and he covers my eyes. Ugh I'm getting really anxious. I hear the door open and I'm told to walk out. As soon as I feel his hands off me I open my eyes to be met with a jet black jeep! I let out a scream and run over to the beautiful vehicle in front of me.

"Oh my god!" I jump "Why am I getting a Jeep? I mean I'm not complaining, but yeah" I laugh still admiring it. 

"Since your birthday is in three weeks I decided you should get a early present. Especially because I missed your other birthdays" dad frowns a little, but he doesn't know I already forgave him for that. I run up to him and hug him. 

"I couldn't of asked for anything better dad" 

"Good. And your boyfriend helped me pick it" I turn around to face the handsome man of mine and run and jump in to his arms. Literally. He picked me up and hugged me. 

"You're the best" I kissed him.

"I know" he laughs. "Shouldn't you be leaving now though?" I check the time on my watch and notice that he's right. I gotta go before I'm late. 

"Yeah. Where's the keys?" 

"In the car. I'll see you later. Love you" dad gives me one more hug and I run and jump into my Jeep. I leave the driveway with one more wave and a smile.

I've been at work for a good hour and it's pretty fun. I work register and Haley is the Barista. We work great together. 

"You having fun?" I raise an eyebrow at my friend and she smiles a wide smile at me. "Of course" she laughs. 

"Good because we still have hours to work" I laugh and turn back around to the register and face the next customer. Which is a giant regret. 

"I would like one coffee. Black please" His dark eyes burning into me. 

I ring it up trying to ignore him to the best of my abilities and give him his total, "two sixty" I put my hand out and wait for him to put the money in my hand. When I feel it in my hand I pull my hand back, but instead Ethan is holding my hand. "Let go" I hiss. 

"When will you learn Alex? I am the only one for you and you need to get that through your beautiful head. You're just going through a phase" Fuck him. I pull back my hand and throw the money into the register. I go to the back until Haley is done with his drink. 

"Haley can you give him his drink I need to use the restroom" I lie. 

"Of course" she smiles and goes towards the front. 

I head to the restroom and sit in a stall until I know for sure he has left. Which thankfully did not take that long.
