My parents are making me get a job. Ugh. I'm fifteen and starting my sophomore year of highschool. I don't need money! Its not like I ever go out. I have no friends except for my best friend Aira. Although we barely see each other. My other best friend is a book. Yeah... I'm a nerd and I'm proud
I got a job babysitting for my new neighbors. They have a son who's eight years old. Its going to be so boring. At least I get good pay.
"Safiya! You better get going!" my mom calls up. I put away my computer and pull the front pieces of my dark brown hair to the back and pin it in place. I go to my makeup drawer and apply some lip gloss and mascara to bring out my brown eyes. I've never really been big on makeup, but I still enjoy putting on a little.
"SAFIYA ELLE MONROE. YOU ARE GOING TO BE LATE. COME DOWN THIS INSTANT!" my mom called me again. I swear, she's like a hawk, but I love her.
"Coming!" I reached the end of the stairs, where my mom was standing looking really mad.
"Safiya, you know that Mrs. Jacobs and I have been friends since high school. Now, I want you to make a good impression."
"Yeah, yeah. Don't worry Mom, I'll be fine."
She nodded at me as I walked out. It was a short walk, as I was literally going next door. I rang the doorbell and right away I heard footsteps.
"Oh! You must be Safiya! Oh, your mother has told me so much about you! Oh, you look just like her twin!" At this part I kind of threw up in my head. "I'm Michelle Jacobs and this is my husband John. We're actually in a rush so we've left you notes. Brandon is in the living room with Asher. If you need help with anything ask Ash." she rambled out before running out and slamming the door closed.
Their house was in the same format as mine, so it wasn't hard to find the living room. Yet it was so beautiful. Art work on the wall, a neutral color choice. Though nothing really hit as unusual, since this was a pretty wealthy neighborhood. Part of the reason why I hated this place. But the blond haired, beautiful grey eyed model was what knocked the wind out of me.
In front of me sat the infamous Asher Jacobs. He was known by everyone, even though he tended to keep to himself. Don't get me wrong, he was popular, probably the most popular person in the school. But he usually only talked to his best friends, mostly guys on the team, or his current flirt. That's another reason why he's popular. He was the captain of the football team and a player. But aren't they all? Overall I hated him, he was a jerk. A popular.
"Hey, you must be Safiya." He said from the couch. He knew my name?
"Uh, yeah. That's me." Ugh. Why did I have to be so awkward! Asher just stared at me, an amused smirk on his face. Any girl would swoon at that smirk. I hated it. Suddenly I felt a tug on my shirt sleeve.
"Hi, I'm Brandon, I'm eight years old, and I've lost five teeth!" He said while looking up at me. "I want to go play!"
"Oh, okay." I said, taken aback for a second. "What do you want to play?"
" I wanna go to the park!" He yelled getting excited.
"I don't think we-" Asher started from behind him.
"Sure. Why not." I interrupted. Hey! I was lazy. This was easier. Just sitting and reading.
"Oh, okay, cool. I just have to get something and I'll be out." Asher called.
"Wait, you're coming too?" I asked. Why would he want to come.
"Yeah. If that's alright with you, of course?" He responded.
"Yeah, no problem." I replied.
"Cool." He said before running up the stairs.
"Yay! Best babysitter ever!" Brandon cried.
"Alright. I'm ready." He said turning around. I noticed a chain sticking out of the back of his shirt.
"Let's go." I said. Right after the verification Brandon ran out followed by me, then Asher.
❤❤❤
