It's quarter past 11 in the evening. I am finally done with that calculus thingy. I have three more subjects to study in preparation for the entrance exam at my dream college, ze Haebaragi University. But since calculus exhausted all the hell out of me, I felt the need of sleeping ASAP.

Just I closed my eyes, I heard someone knock on my door.

"Sang-Hyun? Really this ungodly hour?" I complained while rolling my eyes as if my brother would see.

I then lazily stood up and walked towards the door to see what my brother is up to.

"Dara eunnie! Saengil chukha hamnida!" My brother gave me a silly smile then wiped some icing on my nose. Grrrr!

"Ya! Stop that Sang-Hyun. It's your eunnie's birthday today. You must stop trolling at least just for today." Oh. My mama is my real savior.

"Anyway, happy birthday Dara! I am sorry if I could not give you a huge party on your birthday. Well, here's your birthday cake. Blow the candle and make a wish."

I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply after I blew the candle.

I felt my mom kiss me on my cheeks just as I finished making a wish.

"Kamsahamnida eomma. Saranghae."

"I love you too, my princess."

Incoming call: Bom

"Happy birthday, my dear friend!"

"Thank you Bom!"

"So how's your day so far? Is your best friend slash future boy friend already there?" She curiously asked.

"You mean Donghae? You're so excited, aren't you? It's just the start of the day. Of course he's not yet here."

"Oh well. Don't forget to text me once he arrived, okay? Hihi. Bye." Bom hung up.

I wonder why Donghae is not yet calling. He usually is the first person to greet me on my birthday. And this one's special since he promised me 6 years ago that he will come back here in Jeollanam-do on my 18th birthday. Since then I am waiting for that special day to meet him again and today's the day.

"Tsk. Where art thou, Donghae?" I mumbled.

Outgoing call: Auntie Hyangsook

"Yoboseo. D-dara? It's been a long time since I talked to you. What can I do for you?"

"I just want to check on Donghae. I am calling him earlier but it seems his phone is turned off."

"Oh. Today's your birthday, right? Happy birthday, Dara!"

"Yes, auntie. Thank you very much. Is Donghae coming to my birthday? Much better if you come with him as well."

"Actually, Donghae's not here since yesterday. Eunice was rushed to the hospital the other day and he is the one taking care of her. I am not sure when will he come home."

"Eunice?" I asked.

"Eunice, Donghae's best friend here in Seoul. Haven't he introduced her to you?" Donghae's mom wondered.

"B-best friend? N-not yet." I took a deep breath before speaking again. "Okay. I got to go auntie. Please send my regards to Donghae."

"Sure, Dara. Annyeoung."

So he has a new best friend who is obviously his priority. Someone, anyone, please just kill me now.

AN: Jeollanam-do is a province in South Korea. It's where Donghae was born in real life. In this story, Jeollanam-do is Dara and Donghae's hometown.

I used the real names of the characters so it can be more realistic. If you'll ask who's Eunice, he's the female version of Eunhyuk. lol. Get to know her on the following chapters. Arasso? :)
