I was again awaken by the same stench that lurks in my room, the same smell that I smell every day. Around me everything is colored white, the color that haunts me all my life. Again Mr. White came, holding a small cylinder object with a long needle at the end, "It's time for your shots", Mr. White said. While trembling, I closed my eyes and everything felts numb. This has been my daily routine, my daily way of life.
I remember my mom, my beautiful, kind mom and my dad I'll never ever forget my dad. My mom works at the market, every night she works rigorously just to provide for my needs, often I ask why she works at night but she just answers me with a calm yet deep smile. My dad on the other hand is jobless, I always see him in front of the television, holding a shiny piece of paper and a long tube. This has been my life in the past, it's not luxurious but I'm contented.
It's a day before my 5th birthday when the catastrophic event happened. I saw my mom in her room, she looks weird (always coughing and small wounds are starting to fill her body), I asked her if she's ok, but again she just smiles calmly and said "don't worry, I am fine".
That was the last time I saw my mom smile, the last time I saw her alive. Every night I cried on my bed. Hugging my pillow, pretending my mom is there. Weeks passed but still I wasn't able to move on.
Just when I thought nothing could go worst, I was wrong. It was a rainy night, everything was dark, and I lay on my bed hugging my pillow when suddenly someone opened the door. The scent of alcohol fills the room. The man held me slowly, touching my face, combing my hair and kissing my cheeks, then everything turns black, black as pit.
For weeks the same event happens over and over again. Until one morning I stumbled upon a blue box, I opened it and saw small blue pellets, they look like ordinary candies except for the big human skull drawing and the mouse picture on the box.
I saw my dad on the floor, with a number of bottled of alcohol. Slowly I approach and opened one bottle and put a little blue candy. That was my ticket to freedom, a ticket to this place I now call home.
"Elly it's time for your shot", my reminiscing was disturbed by Mr. White. While trembling, I closed my eyes and everything felt numb. This has been my daily routine, my daily way of life, my life I can never escape.
