Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus/Trials of Apollo
1) The movies are so cringe; I don't even know why I went to watch the Sea of Monsters (which was an EVEN BIGGER STUFF UP THAT TOTALLY DISRUPTED THE WHOLE COURSE OF EVENTS!!!) after the biggest cinematic disappointment of all time (Lightning Thief), which just begs the question: WHY RICK RIODAAAAAAAN!?!?!?!?!?!
2) It is common knowledge to those who know me that by the start of Heroes of Olympus, Perabeth makes me sick...call me a hater but it triggers my gag reflex. (Teeheehee, opinionated me!)
3) It is also common knowledge that, due to the banter and the obvious reluctance from Nico's part, Solangelo is THE ONE TRUE PAIRING. No questions asked.
4) Apollo's character is (in my savage opinion) a very overdone personality and is about the only thing that gives Percabeth a serious run for their money torturing-the-reader-wise.
5) If I were a demigod, I'd choose Reyna to be my friend ANY DAY. I feel so sorry for her; so sad to not hear about (what looked like) Nico's budding friendship with her from 'Blood of Olympus' in 'The Lost Oracle'.
The Kane Chronicles/ Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard
1) Carter and Zia are the best. The ending with them on a date in the Mall of America was ON POINT. Percy and Annabeth, take notes.
2) Sadie and Anubis! Sadie and Anubis! Sadie and Anubis!
Side note: Why was Sadie so emotional and upset when Anubis took Will as a host?! It LITERALLY solved her love triangle and the almost inevitable aspect of Anubis leaving the mortal world! She was offered the perfect solution and yet freaked out, despite having hosted Isis (of all goddesses) herself.
3) For some reason, Magnus Chase felt like such a mature and enjoyable read in comparison to the rather childish tone of other books by Riordan (sad but true). Perhaps it's just the more grown-up, hardened and clever character voice and the opinions of Magnus in comparison to that upstart Percy Jackson (You got me, I'm Dionysus), but it's just so easy.
4) I pray that Magnus Chase DOES NOT fall in love in his trilogy. I hope that he is able to add a few more people to his #AsgardPowerComboSquad (let's make that a thing), and that he boosts up the people already in it (Samirah Al Abbas, Hearthstone, Blitzen and the other Einherji who could also be developed more as well). I love the characters though. Their backstories are already really good, and the absence of sugared sap (thank their Viking, bloodthirsty ways!) is a breath of fresh, cold, pure air from a Nordic fjord.
Side Note: Fix Hearthstone's disability!
5) Hearthstone's proficiency in Elven magic (whatever it's called) dramatically increased at the final battle. The transition from Neville Longbottom to Dumbledore was literally nonexistent; his power literally just got tons more powerful. Maybe there was a reason for that...but I'm sure it's just as dodgy as his skills.
Side Note: Nobody is going to bother memorising the impossible-to-pronounce Viking words.
The Hunger Games
1) It's been over-said, but I'm going to say it anyway. Peeta is next to useless...
2) It's been over-said, but I'm going to say it anyway. The first book was the best, and then it got progressively less enjoyable. The difference was that, unlike certain other stuff that last for long periods of time, like relationships for example (*cough cough*), it was most definitely bearable.
3) It's been over-said, but I'm going to say it anyway. Why did they have to kill off poor, harmless Rue...?
4) It's been over-said, but I'm going to say it anyway. Why did they have to kill off sweet, caring Finnick...?
