Chapter: 11
So now I just have an uncle I know not a damn thing about. For the women my mom was she was pretty calm so he must not be that bad; they must have history. But she never told me. My mom tells me everything. I Started to feel my temper rising. Why wouldn't she tell me about my uncle. I lost my dad when I was seven. Having an uncle could have been good for me. Especially now, with such dramatic changes in myself.
"Exactly. Now you have to calm down we need this. It's not her fault. She was protecting us."
Protecting us from what? My life has been an open book. She tells me everything, from who she's interested in down to when we were struggling and she showed me what a shut off notice was: at nine years old. Has she been keeping things from me my whole life? It's funny how I have these talks with myself now.
I settled down and got ready for what ever the hell was about to happen.
"How have you been Armonnie?" Ludlow was looking at me still.
"I'm only okay right about now." I looked at my mom as if to say what's going on
"Armonnie keep your cool, down girl down."
"Mom what's this about?" I said through a lined mouth. Even though it was my birthday, I felt like something a lot bigger was being celebrated. At least that was the energy I sensed from Brittany and Ludlow. My mom was just, calm.
"I need you to be completely open minded - "
"And low tempered." Ludlow added cutting my mother's statement short.
"And why is that?" I snap back at both of them; mostly directing my aggression towards Ludlow.
"Uncle Ludlow."
My own thoughts were against me. That didn't stop my temper though.
My thoughts couldn't stop that."Calm your ass down, sit back and listen Armonnie. This is a lot more important than you think sister."
Sister? The fuck is that about. My thoughts don't feel like my own today. To be honest they haven't for a while. It feels like there someone else in my head all the time. I took my first two fingers on each hand and rubbed my temples.
"Listen Armonnie. Your not going to like everything I'm about to say but I can't keep this from you any more." My mother said holding her head down as if to reflect her guilt. I could see it all just through the side of her face.
"You know I would never keep anything from you. But this life; I never wanted this for you." She said gesturing Brittany and Uncle Ludlow. "But that's because I know the hardship that comes with it." She added looking at me now.
"But it's also beautiful and passionate." Brittany added with content filled eyes. What life. Are we all not living in the same world causing us to have similar lives. It wasn't like we were poor and they were rich, so what could this 'life' possibly be. I looked at Ludlow and he was looking at me with those same eyes and a small smile. I'm not sure why but I couldn't help but smile back causing Ludlow and I to lock eyes.
"Your going to be fine, okay Cherry. Your an Omega."
I looked at Ludlow with confused eyes.
"What did you just say."My mom looked at me with sarrow filled eyes as she stood to her feet.
"I love you. I love you so much Armonnie." She said taking my face between both of her
hands and kissed my forehead. "But I can't watch you become a beast like your father."She started to walk away and I grab her arm in pursuit.
"How could you say something like that?
He did everything for us." I let her arm go as a single tear fell from eye and continued to walk away and out the store. I turned to look at Brittany and Ludlow."Don't ever call me that again." I looked at him with slightly closed closed eyes.
"You might look like him. But your not my father. I said then took off, out of the store and started down the street but stop in my tracks to listen. I could hear Brittany.
"What did you say to her?" Brittany asked Ludlow.
"I claimed her." I walked back to the restaurant window to get a look.
"And it made her react like that. She shouldn't even understand. I know I didn't." She finished with with the tilt of her head.
"Oh I know she doesn't. But she'll be back."
"And how can you be so sure? It's not like she knows what she is."
"She'll remember. I called her Cherry."
"And that's going to work."
"It has to work. Or all this was for nothing." Ludlow finished looking deep into Brittany's eyes.
"It has to." He said slightly caressing her shoulder looking at her through soft eyes.
"Come on chief. Take a run with me." Brittany said. And I watched as they both walked out the back door of the restaurant.
