the fire

" Jason time to wake up" a voice said from down the hall "your don't want to be late for your first day of Jr. high"

Jason got up slow and annoyed that he had to go to school. he hated school because he never quite fit in , his only friend was his neighbor that he got along with very well. it also helped that there families were really close, their families would do everything together . Jason walked over to his closet to pick out an outfit for the day , he didn't really what he wore it wasn't like anyone was going to pay attention to him he thought. he grabbed a pair of blue jeans along with black under shirt and a green  long sleeve plaid shirt and a pair of black vans to complete his outfit. he put his clothes on slowly while trying to find an excuse to not go to school but he couldn't find any reasonable excuse so he headed down stairs for breakfast. Jason didn't really care much for but his parents always forced him to eat something. when he got down stairs he saw his mom sitting down drinking coffee next to his father that was buttoning up his own green plaid shirt.

"aw my two favorite boys are matching !" Jason's mom said looking at both of them

"i put it on first" Jason's dad joked

"oh sorry dad" Jason said quietly

"I was joking bud don't worry "Jason's dad said

"Well I got to get going, don't want to miss walking with violet" Jason said nervously

" bye we love you " they both said as Jason walked out the door

"I think they would make a cute couple "Jason's mom said

"Linda ! There like brother and sister plus there still too young!"Jason dad said " but honestly they would make an amazing couple "

Jason walked next door to violets house and knocked on on the door . Violet always took a while to get ready and every time she did Jason would make fun of her for it but in a loving way. Violet opened the door and threw a banana at Jason , Jason cought it and threw it back in the house then violet jumped out through the door way . Violet was wearing a dark blue dress that went down to her knees along with a pair of black high-tops.  Her black hair was messy but she didn't care , Jason liked they way her hair looked when it was messy he thought it was kinda like modern art , no one knows what it's supposed to be but everyone still looks at it with amazement.

"What's with the banana ? " Jason asked

"Just wanted to make your life more interesting " violet said with a big smile

"My life will always be interesting as long as I know you" Jason said as they started walking to school "hey what's with your eyes they look a very little green today?"

"What you don't like my eyes?" Violet asked sarcastically

"I love your green eyes, green is my favorite color you know that , they just look different today that's all" Jason explained

When they got to school they hugged and went to their classes. They always hugged before they left each other because it helped with both there anxiety. Jason hated school, he had no friends and he hated studying,  he wasn't bad at school he knew more than most which is probably why he didn't have many friends . He finished his homework then listened to music the rest of the day , every day Jason learned a new song word for word. He never sang in front of anyone but it was a hobby of his. It was a boring day at school but he survived. after school he hung out with violet all day until his parents called him home for bed. They hung out all the time , never getting bored or annoyed with each other. When Jason got home he got ready for bed and waited for his parents to go to sleep. When his parents went to bed he would go into the bathroom, lite an incense and right down his feelings. He never liked talking about his feelings because he didn't want people to think he was weak and no one understood nor cared except for violet but he hated bothering her with problems. He ran out of ink in his pen while writing about the people he loved and how he felt that he let everyone down. He walked back to his room to grab an other pen but saw the clock read 4:30 am so he decided to lay down and take a quick nap. He forgot to turn off his incense when he left the bathroom, the incense fell over onto the carpet making a fire , the fire quickly spread rapidly around the house while they slept. Jason woke to the screams of his parents then noticed that half his room was on fire. Jason grabbed his Journal and two pictures, one picture was of him and his family and the other of him and violet. He grabbed his stuff and jumped out the window when he hit the ground he broke his leg but that didn't stop him from trying to run. He threw his stuff on to the neighbors yard and bang on the door then ran back into the burning house. His leg hurt like hell but he didn't want to leave his parents to die.the stairs were on fire so he tried walk as fast as he could but his leg would barely move, when he got half way his legs started to burn. He got to their door but the door was burning hot so he took off his flannel and used it as a glove to get in. When he walked in he saw his parents bodies lying on the bed burning, he quickly grabbed his flannel again and tried to desperately put out the flames but they wouldn't go out then a large man picked up Jason and carried him out of the house. When they got outside Jason could see firefighters trying to put the fire out while the neighborhood watched. They put him on an ambulance and started doing tests on him to make sure he was okay but found that his leg was broken, while they  were doing tests on him violet ran into the ambulance and hugged Jason  and wouldn't let go crying about what she heard happened to his parents. He was doing the best he could to comfort her but he was still dealing with it himself. After they put out the fire they took Jason and violet along with her family to the hospital to fix up Jason. While the doctor fixed up Jason an adoption agency worker came to talk with violets parents

" excuse me, Mr and Mrs smith I am from the adoption agency and noticed that Jason doesn't have any other family alive and you two are listed as  emergency contacts if anything was to happen, so what I'm trying to ask is if you two will take Jason" the man asked

" I don't know, shouldn't Jason have a say in what happens?" Mrs. Smith asked unsure if she could do it

"If you want you can give him the choice but it is totally up to you, give me a call when you two decide." The man said handing them a business card with his information then walked away

after the doctors did what they could to fix up Jason, violet's parents walked into the hospital room and talked to Jason about the adoption options. Jason decided to stay with violet's family but was able to leave to a different family if he wanted. Jason was quiet after the fire not saying a word to anyone except to violet. Jason never talked about how he felt nor about his family to violet,  but that didn't mean he wasn't hurting, he felt dead inside and guilt thinking that the fire was his fault. Jason would randomly get flash backs of that night in the fire and that would make him twitch but he always  found a way to cover it up because he didn't want anyone to know how bad he really was. he knew people would freak if they knew about the voices so he kept that to himself as well but he couldn't always hide it and would lash out at the voices. as Jason stayed with violets family,  him and violet got closer then ever and even into a relationship for a while. they were perfect together , it was the same as when they just best friends except with a few kisses on the check here and there and a different meaning when they said i love you . there friendship was always more like a relationship and everyone could see it, they would lean on each other and rest in each others arms and play together like they had been together forever. she helped fix jason just by being around. they were together for 4 months than violet broke it up but never said why. after it ended violet started to hate Jason, she would tell people about how much she hated him while he tried to fix there friendship . it hurt him with every second that she hated him and the voices would repeat the hurtful things she said over and over again. he just wanted his best friend back but he couldn't take it anymore he put himself up for adoption and shortly afterwards was adopted by a family that lived in japan . the day he left he asked for one last hug but when she gave him the hug he could feel the love in the hug but she still acted like she hated him. it confused him but he still left .
