Hey everybody!! Okay this is the same book as My Escape, but I wanted to change the title because a lot of other people had the same title My Escape, so here it is!!!
-------- PREFACE --------
The rain falls lightly as I walk in the night, towards my home. I tug my jacket around my arms to block out the nippy, pre-winter air. Everywhere I look, it all seems so calm and quiet, yet extremely eerie. I can't keep back my slight itching of fear, and I pick up my speed. The thundering sound of the rain and wind block off my light footsteps along the moist pavement, but was unable to block out the piercing scream that rings in my ears and echoes all around me. I quickly move closer to the building for any coverage that the shadows can give me. With my heart pumping and brain whirling with terror of where the scream came from, I turn down an alley as a shortcut home and, oh, how I regret that.
I come to a sudden stop, nearly falling forward, and stare in horror at the scene in front of me. A small gasp leaves my mouth, and I'm quick to cover it, but it's too late. I've already been heard. I can't breathe, and my voice has fled the scene, I realize, as I try to scream. I urge my feet to run but they seem glued in place, feeling heavier every passing second. Fear and panic sinks in, all the way to the bone, causing me to shake uncontrollably.
The man in black that stands a few feet in front of me turns towards me with a malicious smirk on his face, and I watch fear-struck as it grows when he sees me. He wears all black, but not enough to hide the blood the covers his hands. I start stepping backward when I see a blood covered knife in his hand. He follows my gaze and starts laughing, a sick, horrible sound to my ears.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Well, what have we here, hm?" He rips a piece of fabric off the dress of the dead victim on the ground, and wipes the blood off the knife. "What's wrong sweetie? Cat got your tongue?" He gestures the knife towards me and laughs again when I wince. Finally, the adrenaline kicks in, and I spin on my heels and run! I use as much strength as I can muster and go. I hear him yell a profanity at me, but my ears are still ringing with the dead girls scream.
When I finally think I have a chance to escape I feel his hands push on my back and I fall, hard, on the ground. I instantly go dizzy when my head hits the ground with a sickening crack. Not long after I feel the warmness of my blood drenching the side of my head and face. I try to move out of his grip, but only end up in more pain. Once that pain hit me, waves of black began to cloud my vision until I could see no more. Soon, I went unconscious. The last dreading thread of reality I can recall was the being of dragged across the pavement and into the ominous unknown.
~ ♪ Now and again we try, to just stay alive. Maybe we'll turn it around 'cus it's not too late. It's never too late! ♪ ~
