"Why are you giving me that look?" Quinn asked all too innocently.
"What look Quinn?" I asked back. I glared at her to make her feel uncomfortable. "Are you guilty of something?" I knew she was but I just wanted her to admit it.
"No," Quinn lied. I knew this woman very well and I saw through her lies.
"Stop lying to me Quinn!" I yelled. "What game are you trying to play this time, huh?"
"Would you stop yelling," Quinn cried as she pulled me inside her house, locking the door behind her. "I don't want you to draw any attention to-"
"What the hell was that girl doing here again?" I demanded to know. This was the third time that I saw that African goddess leave Quinn's house and I wanted to know who she was and what was she doing associating herself with Quinn?
"I don't know what you're talking about," Quinn said as she headed over to her tray full of rubies. I grabbed her by the wrist and she looked at me in surprise.
"Don't play dumb babe," I said. "What's going on?"
"You know what fine. Since you want to know what's going on so bad, I'll tell you," Quinn replied. Now that's what I like to hear. I let Quinn's wrist go and listened to what she had to say. "If you must know Deacon, that girl that you saw leaving my house just now is a woman."
"I know that babe but what was she doing here?" I asked trying to be more clear. Quinn wasn't dumb. She knew exactly what I wanted to know but she just wanted to annoy me. She always did this.
"She's helping me," Quinn replied. "She's gonna bring Liam's heart to me tomorrow."
Bring Liam's heart? What the hell is going on here? Maybe I shouldn't have asked anything. The sad thing about this whole conversation with Quinn was that she wasn't making none of this up. She was a nut case but a beautiful one at that.
"What is this?" I asked outraged. "Are you the evil Queen and is Liam Snow White? Explain this to me babe because I am lost of words right now."
"Snow White is too cute for Liam," Quinn replied, "he's more like Quasimodo." Maybe she was right about that one. "Stop calling me babe like were together."
"Right I forgot," I said in a sarcastic tone, "you're still in love with old man stink, I get it."
"His name is Eric," Quinn corrected and boy wasn't she getting a bit too defensive over that man. "And...we are no more."
Did my ears deceive me? Did she just say that she and Eric were no more? Am I dreaming?
"What?" I asked pretending to care. "I thought you two were going strong. What happened?"
"His family happened," Quinn answered as she plopped down on her bed. She looked sad but still pretty. "They didn't like me and that was fine until Steffy threatened that if I didn't leave Eric alone, she'd leave Wyatt."
"Quinn you had to have seen that coming," I told her, "even I saw that coming." Quinn looked at me like a sad puppy. "Then what happened?"
"I stopped seeing Eric after that," She said, "didn't see him or talk to him for three weeks now. I even changed my number so he wouldn't call me."
A part of me was celebrating that Quinn stopped seeing that old crusty man. Another part of me felt bad for Quinn because she really did love him, for whatever reason that was. I placed a hand on Quinn's shoulder.
"Sorry," I said more softer than how my tone was before. "You still have me though."
"I don't know whether to be disgusted or to be thankful about that," Quinn replied jokingly. I smiled because that was the Quinn Fuller that I knew and loved. I didn't know who that was sulking a few minutes ago about that Eric Forrester. "But with all jokes aside, thank you Deacon. You're a really good friend." And I hoped one day that we'd be more than just friends again.
"Anytime," I replied. Quinn smiled and she should smile more because it looked good on her. "But my question still stands, what was all this heart business that you mentioned earlier?"
"It's all about giving people their just desserts," Quinn told me. "I know that Steffy is still in love with Liam so I found someone who Liam could love more to make that girl jealous."
"Don't tell me that someone was that girl that you were talking to," I said. She was too pretty to get herself involve in whatever Quinn had planned, not to mention to fake love Liam.
"You hit it on the nail," Quinn said as I shook my head. I didn't know what to say. "She told me that Liam really likes her and I'm glad." I personally thought that Liam and Steffy should just be reunited and end this whole nonsense. Why pull an innocent girl into this? "Now that Liam is seeing her, this traps Steffy to be with Wyatt forever. She won't be going to Liam ever again." Quinn grinned wickedly as she continued, "Cressida, the young woman whose helping me, is on her way to kill Liam. Once I get the heart, I will send it to Steffy and that would be that."
"So you're pretty much hiring a drop dead gorgeous hit woman to kill Liam to make Steffy miserable?" I asked, trying to make sense of this. Quinn nodded. "This is sick Quinn! Just leave them alone."
"It's a bit too late for that," Quinn snapped. "Cressida is on her way to kill Liam as we speak."
I understood that Liam was annoying and all but did he really deserve to die? I remember when my foolish daughter, Hope, dated him and almost married him. It made me sick to my stomach but I wouldn't go as far as to kill him.
"Did this Cressida actually agree to do all this?" I asked.
"Yea."
"What's the catch?" Quinn fell silent. "What's the catch Quinn?" It couldn't be money because Quinn was broke. Quinn gave me a sheepish look and I wanted to strangle her. So she did offer Cressida money that she didn't have, how lovely. "Quinn!"
"She has a dying grand mother who needs to undergo surgery of some sort," Quinn explained and I wanted her to stop. I already didn't like where this was going. "I offered to pay her everything she needed for that surgery once this was all over and-"
"Except for the fact that you have no money," I finished. "Tell me something Quinn, suppose she does kill Liam for you, then what?!"
"Then I'll rob a bank and give her what she's earned," Quinn replied. "What's the big deal?" She was making me crazy.
"The big deal is that I could see this whole thing ending very badly," I told her. "Wyatt would be heart broken that his brother is dead, not to mention Dollar Bill and-"
"Oh they'll get over it," Quinn said. Would they really? I doubt it.
"And what about Cressida, huh Quinn?" I asked. "If you don't give her the money for her dying grandma I am one hundred percent sure that she'll turn you into the police."
"She wouldn't."
"Don't be so sure about that." I headed over to the door. I was done talking to Quinn and hearing about her latest scheme. I opened the door and looked at Quinn. "Think about it babe." I cared too much about her to let her get thrown into prison but she didn't need to know that. And with nothing else to be said, I closed the door behind me, leaving Quinn deep in thought.
