After class I went into the office to work for a couple of hours. It had been weird getting used to wearing professional clothes. I was so used to just throwing on a T-shirt and some skinny jeans. I got home and fixed my hair, makeup and changed into a pair of beige slacks with a black button up shirt that hid the tattoos I had on my shoulders. The office was in Louiseville, so it only took about ten minutes from my apartment.

“Hi, Yasmin.” said Nicole, the office receptionist.

“Hey, Nikki.” I replied and smiled.

“Mr. Walker wants to talk to you.”

“About what?” I asked curiously.

“He just said he wanted to see you as soon you’d gotten here.” She shrugged.

“Okay, thanks.” I replied and made my way to his office.

I knocked twice before he answered. “Come in!” I opened the door slowly and walked in to the office.

“It’s nice to see you Ms. Yousaf.” He said smiling.

“You as well.” I replied. He was the owner of the firm but I worked mainly with the other architects, I never had a set one I did projects for.

“So why did you want to see me?” I asked. He knows I don’t like to beat around the bush.

“Very egaer, I see” He said laiughing “Well, it seems like you’ve been doing wonderful, and we’ve been really impressed by the progress you’ve made in only six months.” He praised me, and it made me feel awesome.

“Thanks, but what does that mean?” I shifted uncomfortably in the chair.

“Well that means that I’d like to offer you a position as a full CAD Drafter.” He said smiling.

My mouth fell open. I was loved by the architects and Interior designers I worked for, and I loved what I did. This was beyond amazing and I had no words to express what I was feeling. He was making my whole life right now.

“Uhm... I’m speechless Mr Walker. It means so much to me that you think I am fit for the position.” I said smiling widely.

“Yes, you are one of the best interns we’ve had in a couple years, and I think you’d be great. You’ve shown you have the potential, and you have great skills.”

“Thank you so much. This means a lot.” I said.

“So that means you’ll take it?” He asked, smiling along with me.

“Yes.” I said calmly, but inside I wanted to jump and scream.

“Very well.” He said and got up and shook my hand. “Lets you started with official paperwork so we can you have you start on Monday.”

He pulled a yellow manila folder he had sitting on the left of his desk and had me fill out an official application and other paperwork that I needed. He explained how my work schedule would be arranged by me and him depending on what days and hours I had class. He also explained that now I would be in charge of the whole process not just the preliminary design, but I would work along with the structural engineers and architects. This was so exciting. I was actually going to do what I enjoyed for the rest of my life, or at least however long I decided to stay here.

I spent the rest of the afternoon in the office finishing the project I had started that month. Once I was done, I presented it to the main architect. We spent about two hours red-lining all of the drawings, and by seven, he said he was done for the day, that we would finish this by Monday.

I gathered my stuff and left him to get ready to leave for the day. I was extremely tired and hungry, so I decided to leave as well. On my way out, I noticed I was one of the four people left in the building. I said bye to Nikki and drove home. Once inside, I took my flats off and started to unbutton my shirt as I made my way to my closet to change. I took my work clothes off and changed into a pair of black yoga pants, with my favorite crew neck, before taking a beer from the fridge and plopping down on the couch to watch TV.
