"Natsu, come on!" I tried again, tugging at his hand. Natsu stayed firmly rooted to the spot, his eyes squeezed shut and his head frantically shaking back and forth. His salmon hair fell in front of his eyes as I continued to beg. "Please!"
"You know I hate rollercoasters. I have motion sickness, you idiot!" He mumbled through his teeth, which were gritted together firmly. He didn't bat an eyelid. He didn't even look at me. I drew my hand back slowly, placing it on my hip as I cocked my head to one side.
"Natsu, please." I added an extra dash of begging to my tone, hoping that it would work.
Natsu opened one eye and I pouted, meeting his determined gaze. He grumbled a string of curse words under his breath before relaxing. He hesitantly nodded. I squealed and dragged him into the queue, a large grin spreading across my face.
"Thank you." I hugged him briefly.
"You owe me." He muttered, taking hold of my petite hand as we queued.
The line moved along quickly, allowing us to move closer and closer to the platform, on which we would get on the ride. Natsu cursed again when he realized that we were next. He clambered in shakily.
"It'll be fine." I whispered, giving his head a reassuring squeeze.
He shut his eyes again, gripping my hand tightly. His knuckles turned white from the sheer force of his grip, but it didn't hurt me. I smiled when the ride began to move, knowing that Natsu would hate every moment. A quiet giggle escaped my lips as he clapped a hand over his mouth.
Despite his delicate motion sickness, Natsu had rode a rollercoaster with me. His hair was blown back and his posture was stiff as we climbed out of the brightly coloured cart. I, however, wore a goofy grin and found myself unable to stop jumping about. He took small, shaky steps, finding it hard to keep up with me.
"I want to go again!"
"No!" Natsu quickly yelled, his eyes widening.
A laugh escaped my lips, my hand reaching out for his. Once I was sure my grip was tight on his hand, I dragged him towards a candyfloss stall. I was intent on getting every finished before tomorrow.
Before tomorrow, the two of us had to have done everything we wanted to.
"Candyfloss, Natsu!" I smiled, coming to a halt as we neared the stall. The woman smiled at us, asking what we'd like.
Natsu asked for two large sticks and the woman smiled again. As she turned to complete our order, Natsu grinned at me reassuringly. His eyes sparkled as he met my gaze.
Before I could protest, Natsu paid and thrusted my candyfloss towards me. This time it was he who dragged me away from the stall. We sat on the nearest bench, engrossed in finishing our candyfloss. Natsu and I chatted as we ate, smiling and laughing.
Natsu asked me, once again, why Happy had declined his invitation. I responded with a shrug.
I knew, though. Deep down, I knew why Happy had declined.
Without my knowing, Happy had discovered why I was so intent on dragging Natsu everywhere. After finding out the news, he had insisted that we spend the day alone. I was grateful, despite missing his company.
People passed us by, glancing over at us with smiles on their faces. I always heard them comment, most saying, "Look how cute they are." Some old couples mused about how we reminded them of their younger selves, of how they were 'back in the day'.
When the two of us had finished, it didn't take me long to stand again and drag Natsu elsewhere. He never stopped to question why I was in such a rush. He merely went along with it, grinning all the time. Natsu stopped me at a 'Test Your Strength' stall, now determined to win me a stuffed animal. I allowed him to try, knowing that he would beat the task very easily.
