"Bet you never could imagine, Never told you you could have it... youuuuuu neeeeeeeded me. Ohhh-"
" Turn right in 25 feet.", the GPS dared to interrupt my jam session.
"And that ruined it.", I sighed turning off the radio, instead of cursing it out which would leave a horrible impression to humans around me. Just as I was moping a little, I noticed a big sign that said ' Welcome to WIC ' in the font feathergraphy coated in gold and silver.
WIC.
My dream university. One of the top 25 schools in the country, an ivy league college, and my home for the next few years. I worked hard sacrificing half of my Netflix time just to get here. It was all worth it though because the dorms are huge and the tv is nice which means good quality Netflix 24/7! I mean.... It would look good on my resume and other nice stuff.
My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on my window which of course startled me almost making me knock out the Oreos in hand. Trying to contain the urge to nearly use my nonexistent powers to use the force , I set down my bag full of black and white sweetness and looked through my passenger window.
Looking back at me was a perky face holding a bubbly smile for reasons unknown to me. Knocking for about a second, the girl gestured for me to let down my window. I probably looked full on idiotic seeing as how it took me at least 5 seconds to get what she meant.
As soon as the window was down enough, she quickly blurted out, " I'm... well that doesn't matter. But the fact that you've made it here does! So welcome ! You are to go get your keys and dorm number before unpacking. Anymore questions are to be asked inside. Bye now!" Not even giving me a second to register what happened, she simply rushed out of sight.
I was waiting for about 45 minutes so far. In the past 30 minutes, I witnessed a girl fall face first, a piece of rotten cheese in the corner being picked up by the janitor, and talk of 'turning up'.
Finally my saving grace came. " MAI ANDERSON! " " Here." I raised my sleeve covered hand.
" I'm not taking attendance little girl. I'm calling your name so you can get your keys and get out of here. The less of you, the better." the grumpy woman announced to me.
I slowly got up from my seat ignoring snickers and whispers of people that witnessed my humiliating scolding. I quickly took the keys out of her hands and turned away, leaving while murmuring " Sorry."
Of course I was too busy looking at my Pumas to notice that I was about to trip and fall.
But I did anyways and I fell on my boxes. " shizzle" While sulking about how dumb and clumsy I was, I noticed that I had also tipped someone's boxes in the process. I quickly picked myself up and tried to put the stuff back in discreetly.
" Uh... what are you doing? " a very confused voice came out of nowhere .
I slowly looked up to see a boy. That's all I'll say about that.
" I tripped over your stuff so I'm picking it up." , I resumed cleaning up.
It was awkward to say the least seeing as how i could feel that he was just staring at me patiently.
" Here you go.", I quickly handed him and tried to get out of the situation. But of course said boy had to open his mouth.
" Thanks ... "
" Mai.", i finished for him.
" Mai, and try not to fall on anyone's boxes. The name is Nathan."
