| Hey guys, before you read on, I just want to say, what an interesting week of school I had! XD I hope you guys like this! (A few hours later) Yes, Sarah, you should TOTALLY be listening to creepy ambiance to write this! XD |
| A Week after writing that update: Welp I guess since I'm sick now that I have no excuse. *turns on music and blows nose* Ugh being sick sucks|December 16th, 2016, 7:00 pm, Phoenix Drop Elementary
Melody clenched the bow on the front of her dress. She was going to sing a song in front of all of the school, and the town who came. Her heart was skipping over beats and her mind dragged at her. She closed her eyes, wishing for it to stop. She looked up when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Alexis was looking at her with a smile in her dancing leotard.
"You okay?"
"I'm just a bit nervous..." Melody admitted.
"Don't worry about it, you have an amazing voice!"
"Melody, you're on after this." The Stage manager informed them.
"Oh okay."
"Break a leg."
"Thanks." Melody smiled gently.
When the time came, Melody took a deep breath and walked gracefully out onto the stage. Her yellow dress trailed slightly behind her, the sleeves felt heavy on her arms. The second she stood in front of the microphone, she caught eye of Zane, smiling proudly up at her, without his mask. She smiled back, feeling more confident in herself.
"H-hi, My name is Melody R-Ro'meave. W-when I was little, I was beaten, so was my little brother, who isn't here anymore. There were so many people who took us in, but we always ended up back. However, on Christmas of last year, Zane, My Papa, rescued me, and adopted me on my birthday. This song is Temporary Home."
That was the cue. The music faded in and Melody held the microphone. The into played, then She took a deep breath and started singing.
"Little boy, six years old
A little too used to being alone
Another new mom and dad
Another school, another house that will never be home
When people ask him how he likes this place
He looks up and says with a smile upon his face
This is my temporary home, it's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know
This is my temporary home
Young mom, on her own
She needs a little help, got nowhere to go
She's looking for a job, looking for a way out
'Cause a halfway house will never be a home
At night she whispers to her baby girl
"Someday we'll find our place here in this world"
This is our temporary home, it's not where we belong
Windows and rooms that we're passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where we're going
I'm not afraid because I know
This is our temporary home
Old man, hospital bed
The room is filled with people he loves
And he whispers
"Don't cry for me, I'll see you all someday"
He looks up and says
"I can see God's face"
This is my temporary home, it's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passing through
This was just a stop on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know
This was my temporary home
This is our temporary home."Melody held the last note for a second longer, having cried through the whole song. The tears were moist on her cheek as the music faded away. The audience not only clapped for her, but she received a standing ovation, which make her smile a bit wider. She curtsied and walked off stage. She walked into the hallway and was immediately glomped by her friends.
"That was amazing! I didn't know you could sing like that!" Levin was enthusiastic.
"You're gonna win the singing portion for sure!" Kyle confirmed.
"Yeah! She's gonna win OVERALL!" Alexis laughed.
They all laughed and melody cleared her tears.
"Thanks you guys."
They joined together for one more group hug before going to watch the rest of the Talent Show, and sat in front for the award ceremony. Alexis was named "Best Dancer", Levin was given the title of "Guitar Hero", and Kyle was "Best Comedy Act".
"Next, our Winner for the Singing Competition, who not only showed pure emotion on stage, she stole our hearts with her amazing voice, Melody Ro'Meave!" The Drama Instructor announced happily.
Melody couldn't believe it, her friends were right. She got up from her chair and received her blue ribbon and stood next to her friends on stage. Although Alexis said there was an overall victor, there wasn't. Melody was okay though, and she still would have been even if she didn't get an award at all.
