Katie's POV
As I stand there waiting to start my speech Brigham walks up to me and give me a hug that makes it hard for me to breathe.
"Babe, I- can't-breath-please- stop- hugging- meh-" I try to say in between breaths.
"You ready babe?" He asked looking at me when I catch my breath.
"Yeah. A new chapter is beginning. Now go get back in line." I say and push him a little ways from me.
" okay okay! I'm going! Love you," he says and walks off stage.
"What am I going to do with him," I mumble.
"Your going to keep living him," a familiar voice said.
I turn around and I am meet with a now grown up blue eyed old friend.
"Come here," he says and I am pulled in to strong arms.
"I've missed you," I say to the guy.
"Look at you all grown up. It's been since middle school. Looks like you've lost a few pounds. And your hair is a darker brown. Your eyes are the still murky green brown I remember. Your freckles are still there though," he says with a small smile.
"You've grown up my friend. Stronger and
leaner I see. Still the say icey blue eyes. And short brown hair." I say an ruffle his head. I giggle a look at him. He's grown a lot since I've last seen him. I still see is bad boy impression.
"You better get going before Brigham gets suspicious." He says hugging me again and then he placed a small kiss in my hair then walked away leaving me standing there like a lost pup.
"Shake it off. This doesn't change the way he left. He'll just leave again. Don't think about it for the rest of the evening Katie. Your time to shine is here." I say giving my self a pep talk.
"I now welcome our valedictorian, Kaitlynn Martinez."
Here it goes.
I walk into the stage and it gets really quiet.
Deep breaths. Deep breaths.
"Hi," I wave into the crowd if 2020, "it been quite the adventure for our young selves. We have done good and bad. Made mistakes and some great choices. After today we start a new chapter, a time for new beggings," I look over at every one and find the guys face, "maybe even meet up with a few old friends. We are growing up and we might fall a few times but we as humans grow from falling and making mistakes. It's life. We left our legacy on this small town. It's time to let others leave there's. We have to leave to make room for other young minds in our community. I want every one to remember class of 2020. Today, marks a new begging how you start your begging is entirely up to you. So how will you start your new chapter."
I smile and walk off the stage and into the crowd. Everyone looked at me. I took off my hat and looked at it a moment. I look back up and see all my friends around me. I look to the sky and see the sun. I look back at the hat and throw it up into the sky. Once my hat is in the air everyone joins in.
I smile and turn to see Brigham smiling at me.
"We did it." I say.
I feel a year run down my face before he wipes it way.
"Yes, we did. Now how about we celebrate and go down to the creek?"
I smile brightly, "what are we waiting for?" I ask.
