It was the first day at this new town.
The first day of April was very dark and stormy Was the first of many thoughts that ran through my mind as we turned into the driveway of our new house.
Yellow whips of lightning were spilling out of the low dark clouds above the house, making it seem like it was not a good idea to move into that big, tall brick house.
The car stopped fast, very close to hitting the grey striped garage door, i felt my head hit the back of the passenger seat.
I knew that the very first thing we would do was choose rooms, everytime we move into a new house its a huge fight, this year i wasnt gonna use all my breathe to fight for the biggest room, i was already out of breathe at the sight of the inside of this big, tall, brick house.
The first thing i saw when turned the silver door knob and opened the tall wooden door was a huge wooden stair case, beside it i saw a kitchen, a huge one, with marble counters, and cherry red wood cabinets. My mother loved the kitchen, every house we had ever lived in my mom has spent all of her time in that room. She cooked to give herself comfort. My dad was a cook, im sure thats why she does it, because he too loved to cook.
I tried to ignore the kitchen, knowing the sight of it would bring tears into my eyes, because as soon as my mother walked into the tall brick house, rivers flowed out of her eyes and she slowly approached the kitchen.
I walked uostair slowly, prepared for the sight of the upstairs.
The first room i saw had lavender wals and wood floors, this would be my room. I knew my brothers wouldnt settle fpr pink walls, and my mother would only accept the master bedroom.
I didnt mind my little lavender bedroom, infact i loved it. I began taking up boxes that my mother had labeled with my name "Mariah" My real name was Mariannah but everybody calls my Mariah.
The first box i unloaded was my clothes. I hung them hanger by hanger until my closet was filled up completely, By then it was late, None of the beds had been here yet, i grabedmy dads old varsity jacket, and snuggled up in the corner of my room until my eyelids grew heavy and i drifted away into dream land, i fell asleep to the thought of my "Kinstown" The old abandoned town.
~The Next Day~
I felt cold hands reposition the jacket so that it was covering my entire body, the touch woke me.
It was my mother, she was smililng.
"Come eat Elly, i made pancakes" Her invite made me feel more comfortable.
i walked down the stirs slowly because the steepness worried my feet.
I was a cluts, I was clumsy, and so was my head.
When i had finished eating i returned my syrup dripped sinkinto the sink.
I replied short and sweet "Thanks mom"
she didn reply she just gave me a worried smile and stopped me before i could hide in my room like i always do when we're settling to a new house.
"Mariah..."
"Yes mom...?"
"I dont want you to stay home today" at first her words gave my stomache butterflies and my face a worried look "you need to make friends, every time we move to a new house it takes you weeks to find friends.." That response was better then i had expected, but still pretty crappy.
"but mom i..."
Her short word cut me off
"Go."
I ran upstairs and threw on some clothes and brushed through my long, straight, brown fair. I looked decent but not my best.
"Mariahhh!" My mothered yelled clearly questioning why i wasnt outside looking for friends like a desperate loser.
i didnt reply to her because i knew i would regret my response later, i just ran down the wooden stairs, shocked that i didnt slip, and ran trough the tall wooden front door.
i stormed down my lonely street with an odd name "Elm", i ignored the slanted road sign and walked far down the long road until i saw a coffee shop in the ditance, i entered and was shocked at my at what i had seen.
