First and foremost, thank you so very much for taking the time to read this. It means a lot to me.

Keeping these notes as short as I'll ever possibly can (failed to keep them brief), I just want to give you the briefest of introductions to the terminology and lore of this book-thing. You can always skip straight to the magic if you want, but let me share some hints so that you understand better how this thing you're about to read works.

Alrighty. One of the first things you may notice is some weird, obviously-not-english words. Some are part if my imagination, but there are some that are real, mostly those related to the Empire and its military. They're Latin, and represent terms used by the ancient Romans (whose culture, civilization and military I greatly admire). In fact, the Imperial army presented in my book is entirely based on the Roman army. It is my tribute to my ancestors. You can learn a couple of things that will impress your history teacher from this book. So yeah, anything from weapons and artillery to army ranks and even some (really badass, even today) battle strategies are taken from history books and are 1000% Roman (well, some are borrowed from their enemies, but the winners write the history books, right?). There are also some weapons and other battle-related stuff taken from other ancient times people: Dacians (you must Google those, because they were awesome and they lived exactly where my homeland is :P), Etruscans, Greeks (get your Percy Jackson knowledge right, demigods!), Egyptians, Celts, Persians, Huns (!) and Macedonians. Some references are also made to more recent weapons (a.k.a. those from the middle-ages and even further towards the present, probably as far as the 1800's). Well, you may just get a nice little grade by learning from my book. I'll offer detailed explanations at the end of the book, but it's always best to Google things, or, even better, spend some relaxing weekends in libraries.

Hey, history is cool!

Moving on. The map is somewhat related to planet Earth, with distinct enough changes as not to be confused. I needed an Earth-like world in order to keep some sort of accuracy regarding the matching of the characters' origin to their physical appearance, mostly because of the Daakhi, the Winged Folk, since my documentation on the birds also included their living area. I kind of suck at geography, so I've probably not given as many such details as with the historical ones. I did my best, though, to be as accurate as possible.

Third point of discussion. The lore. I've included quite a few deities, each with their own pros and cons (and each with their own personal agenda). There are also plenty of "mighty heroes of the past" and "mysterious, powerful, ancient relics", just to satisfy all your fantasy needs. This stuff is also somewhat inspired by the Greek/Roman/Egyptian/Norse/Celtic mythology. Eh. History strikes back. There's not much to say yet, since I haven't gone too much into detail. As the story develops I'll probably edit these notes.

Fourth (and probably the most important) point: your contribution. A reader's feedback is the most valuable thing for a writer. While likes/favourites/whatever are signs of appreciation, it's all about the click/tap of a button. Emotionless. It is your comments that have the power to inspire and motivate a writer. Think of comments as, I don't know... Boosts, in a racing game. You might be able to win the race with only your basic equipment, but boosts will give you the upper hand in any situation. This is what I think about comments. Say anything you want about my story, be it good or bad. All I ask if you is to be constructive. Tell me how to improve. Tell me what could be written better. Tell me what is good and needs no improvement. Just... Don't forget to leave a comment along with that little star.

*** Long story short ***

Thanks for reading.
I'm a history nerd.
I try to geography.
I've had enough of Elder Scrolls / Dungeons & Dragons / Lord of the Rings to know how to create a cool world.
Comment or burn!!!
