Chapter Sixteen: The Boys With Big Ideas

Colette's Point Of View

I woke up pretty early the next morning. George's behaviour had haunted me all night and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Why would he say he wanted to talk to me then next second doesn't? Why wouldn't he run off like he'd seen a ghost just because I offered a conversation? I'm not that scary. Am I? I sighed and grabbed my black tank top and red shirt along with my jeans and black converse and shoved them into my school bag. It was only eight thirty and the situation was that Hermione and I were going to get ready together so we could talk without the boys prying in on what we were saying. I wrapped myself in my Gryffindor school robe to cover my pyjamas and headed down to the common room. When I got there, I saw a head of red hair sat staring at the fire. I walked in quietly avoiding all the creaky boards and let my bag down gently. He didn't moved and I went up behind him, clasping my hands over his eyes.

"Guess who?" I said, putting on a slightly deeper voice so he didn't guess me straight away,

"Is it my dearest twin?" George asked me,

"No." I answered, trying not to laugh,

"Lee?"

"No."

"Ron?"

"Nope!"

"Ahh, hello Lottie." George said, taking my hands of his eyes and hanging onto them as he turned around to look at me,

"How'd you guess?" I asked,

"You said nope." He said like it was obvious and smiled. I laughed,

"Wasn't I a convincing dude?" I asked,

"Of course you are!" George laughed,

"Insulted!" I exclaimed with a smile, turning my head away from him and laughing slightly,

"Awww, Lottie! You got me!" George laughed and I looked back, grinning and hopped over the back of the couch, sitting in the seat next to him,

"So why you up?" I asked him,

"No reason." He mumbled, not meeting my eyes,

"George ..."

"What? There is no reason!" He defended,

"Sure..." I said, "Because I always wander down to the common room, gaze into the fire and think about my life, " I said, voice full of sarcasm,

"Yeah but sometimes you do. It's just a random thing. I get it from you." He said, eyebrows raised. I did begin to believe him for a few seconds. I suppose George does do some pretty random things, this being one of them. I nodded to him after about a minute and he smiled, "There you go then. Believe me?"

"I always believe you. You make me sound like a bad person!" I laughed,

"You're not a bad person ..." George mumbled so quietly I almost didn't hear him. I slowly went quiet and stopped laughing. George looked up at me and I half smiled at him. He smiled softly back at me and I swore for a second he was leaning towards me and I may or may not have been doing the same but Hermione flew in and saved the day,

"I am so sorry I'm late! I forgot to -- OH! A-am I interrupting?" Hermione asked with a glint in her eye,

"NO!" George and I shouted and stood up just as quick as each other. One fumbled to get past the other as I grabbed my bag from behind the couch as George flew up the dorm stairs and slammed his dorm door. I looked at Hermione and she was crying silent tears of laughter. Her face was bright red and she was giggling ever so quietly,
