I knocked on the door and waited for someone to open it. After a few minutes waiting, the door opened and I saw a middle aged woman who had Jude's sparkling blue eyes. I recognized her vaguely so she must have been his aunt Sarah.
"Is Jude here?" I asked, feeling awkward.
"He sure is," she smiled, "Can I ask your name?"
"Amey Bryant," I replied.
"Okay. One minute."
She shut the door and I stood there, hugging myself against the mild wind until the door opened again.
It was Jude.
"Hey," he mumbled sleepily as he scratched the back of his head.
I wrapped my arms around his wait.
"I'm sorry," I said, "I'm stopping. It took me and Katie three hours last night but every single one of my knives are locked up in her dad's gun safe."
"I'm sorry I yelled at you," he replied as he kissed my forehead, "I'm sorry I was a dick." He kissed my nose. "And I'm sorry I left you." He gently kissed my lips. "Could you ever forgive such a bastard as me?"
"I could forgive you anyday," I whispered as I kissed him, "And I could forgive you for anything."
