Melissa rolled her sore shoulders and sighed, glancing at the archer sitting across from her.
"Still working?"
Chris shifted and checked his emitter before nodding. "Yeah but not for much longer,"
"Anyone else feeling an unbearable itch they can't scratch?"
"Well, not before you said something, but now, yes I do," the sheriff answered her, looking slightly pained.
"Is she actually gonna come down here and slash all of our throats?" Melissa whispered as if the demon women would come and doom her.
"Nah," John reassured. "She'll come down and strangle us with a garrote and then slash our throats," Melissa sent him an unamused look and bit her lip.
"What about Lilah? What did she want with her? She's only a kid!"
"She's a very strong child. She has powers. Jennifer is power hungry, she will not stop until she gets what she wants," Chris explained, knowing it wouldn't comfort her. But it's all they need to understand, they live in a dangerous world now. This is how to survive. A clattering noise banged against the hatch of the cellar.
"It's just the wind,"

Lila glanced up at the women who had a bruising grip on her arm. Jennifer was making her way to Derek's loft and Lila had a feeling he wouldn't be there. She ignored the fleeting sense of panic and whimpered as she was tugged on the roof. With a loud crash, they fell from the window and glass shattered around them. Jennifer smirked at the two packs.
"So who wants to go first?"
"No!" Lila screamed. She could feel it, death curled around her heart like a disease, a buzz that won't leave. Her mothers soothing whispers in her ear did nothing to stop her struggle.
"Lila, play nice," Jennifer hissed.
"No! I'll never stop!" She sobbed, looking up at the women through her dirty brown hair.
"Let her go!" Two growls from the twins rung through the loft. Jennifer smirked and threw Lila roughly to the ground as the alphas charged. Lila ran to Lydia immediately and buried her face in the strawberry blondes neck. The sounds of fighting and growling turned to a sickening crack and Lydia's horrified gasp. Lila clenched her hands and peeked at the dead alpha twins.
"That's right Kali, look at me. Look at my face. Do you know what it takes to be able to look like this? To look normal?" Jennifer taunted, anger seeping into her words.
"I don't care,"
"It takes power. Power like this," Ripping the screaming brunette away from the banshee, her claw like hands dug into the four year olds soft flesh, making both eyes turn a blinding white. Lifting her hand, Jennifer made all the glass shards spin in the air and smirked.
"I-i should've," Kali started, eyes widening in acceptance. "I should've KILLED YOU!"
Jennifer screamed loudly and thrusted the shards to Kali, imbedding them in her skull, throat, and her body. Lila was jerked away with a cry as her connection with Jennifer faded. Kali dropped to the ground and Lila stared into her dead eyes, shaking at the exhilaration. Lila looked up at Jennifer and hissed lowly,
"Your a monster!"
"Not yet," Jennifer smirked, making her way to Lydia. Lydia backed away best she could and Jennifer seemed to relish in the fear she produced. "What was Coach's saying? The bigger they are...,"
Lydia whimpered while Lila shut her eyes. She needed to get help. They weren't safe anymore. Daddy.... She needed Derek. Not her father but the former alpha who stopped at nothing to protect his pack.
