Chapter 1: I thought I was twelve

Eli's POV:

I sighed and put the homework down. I leaned back in my chair. Basier, my sister was sitting on the bed beside me, texting away on her phone. She was giggling madly. Probably her boyfriend.

I never understood teenager love. It was kind of surprising that I'd be a teenager in two weeks. Maybe I would love as Basier did? Who knows. Does a tulip grow into a rose? I cleared my thoughts, and focused on my Math textbook.

Mr. Zenclovir, had scolded me after class for not having my homework done. I couldn't upset him again.

I finished up my homework, and left to go outside. As I exited the door to my room, Markers, my pet monkey, climbed onto my shoulder from the door frame. I slipped on shoes, and closed the door behind me. Long sidewalks running down roads, surrounding houses, built nice and pristine.

I ended up at a park. A small swing set rocked slowly in the faint breeze. Wood chips scraped my barefooted feet. No people played on the monkey bars, testing their arm's strength. No child slid happily down the green tube called a slide. Not a single soul cried, as they couldn't push themselves on the merry-go-round. Peace and quiet.

I thought to myself as I remembered about how just yesterday I had been here, walking like today, with every swing dancing around, every slide full of happy faces, and the merry-go-round blurred with flying hair.

I walked and sat down on the swing set. I shifted my weight and the swing moved slowly.

Markers climbed off my shoulder, and up the chain that held the swing aloft. After about ten minuets of just sitting there, I started to pump my legs, to move faster. Markers eventually came back down, and I got up to leave. The dirty road muddied up my feet, but I didn't mind. The soft mud squished itself in between my toes.

I would never hear the end of it from my brother if I got this on the carpet. As much as he was a rebel, he was a neat freak. I got up and walked to the water fountain. The spout had stopped, but there was still a small abundance of water in the reservoir.

I cleaned off my feet and moved Markers from my shoulder, to the stone seat beside me.

This is REALLY short compared to chapters to come, but I really wanted to post this now. This book has random updates. Twice a week, probably. Pretty Slow. But I'm spending a lot of time on this. Just for you guys! Hope you like it! :)
