A/N: Normally I try not to post super short chapters... I realized that chapter 12 needed to be finished, and once I had this written, I stared at the last sentence for two days before I decided that I needed to start a new chapter. so... here y'all have it. A super short update. :/

Footsteps echoed through the hallways, making me feel jittery. I didn't like being unable to see anything. It felt like something might creep up on me at any moment. Tilting my head slightly, I listened as the heavy tread of footsteps stopped right outside the door. The doorknob jiggled slightly before the squeak of the door alerted me to someone entering the room.

"Kitten?" I glanced in Dom's general direction. My skin felt all itchy and I released the breath I'd been holding, trying not to panic. I hated this. Dominic moved closer, his body heat warming my front slightly.

"Dom?" My voice sounded shaky, and I hated that.

Before I could say anything further, he stepped between my legs, wrapping his arms around me. "Are you okay?"

His question brought tears to my eyes, but I blinked them away, thankful for the bandages covering them. "Yeah." Clearing my throat, I tried to speak again. "I'll be okay. At least it shouldn't be permanent."

"Fuck, you scared the shit out of me, Kit." He tucked his chin against my neck, faintly tickling me.

"You're starting to sound like Jordan," I murmured, voice laced with humor.

"I don't fucking care, Kit." His grip around my waist tightened, forcing more oxygen to leave my lungs.

Hesitating slightly, I slid my arms around his neck. "Where are Shawn and J?"

"Only one of us was allowed to come back. Shawn will probably shoot me when I get back out there, but while they were arguing about who was going to come get you, I came back here myself," he admitted, grinning.

He lifted his chin, dropping a kiss on my jaw as I turned my head. He paused briefly, his lips on mine, and I could imagine the look on his face. Before I had a chance to giggle, he pulled me closer to his hips, angling my head just enough that kissing him was comfortable for both of us. The stubble on his chin rasped against the sensitive skin around my lips. The gentle probe of his tongue forced me to open my mouth.

His fingertips ran up and down my spine, giving me chills. He nipped my bottom lip gently, probing it with his tongue to soothe the sting. One last nip and he backed his head away slightly, leaning against my shoulder to catch his breath.

"Damn," he muttered, refusing to move.
