The Sky

The sky has heard many things watching over the years
None unlike any other that can't be heard by human ears

It's heard screams of pain and anger as sharp as sharp can be
Of blood shed and rattle of every company
It's seen red blood splatter on soft brown ground
And yellow houses shatter with a metal, metal sound

It's heard sighs and squeals of joy as gentle as a breeze
Of hope and love and laughter all pure wearing hearts on sleeves
It's seen gold and pinks and blues, heavenly beyond compare
And cries of relief and laughter as another town was spared

It's heard silent, silent grief
Of a life cut too short
And flaps of flags of every colour of every nation and sort.
It's seen blacks and whites and greys all blended into one
Of what special, certain deeds we have all done

The sky has heard many things watching over the years
None like any other that can be heard by human ears
