'Gosh, look who's lecturing on ethics?' I managed to say before more tears came.
My host leaned forward. His fingertips stroked the side of my face. 'HE is without ethics. I, on the other hand would walk over broken glass to have someone like you. Are you sure this mortal man is worth it?'
'Yes,' I said, slowly regaining my composure.
My host looked a little ruffled. 'Well, have you thought about my offer?'
'I have ...'
'You want to be her?'
'With my soul, my essence, my whole being.'
'You believe I have the power?'
'I do,' I replied.
