Chapter 1

10 1 1

"Stupid thing..." I groaned as the continuous beep of my alarm awoke me from my peaceful sleep. School. Ugh. The glorious long days of the summer holidays were over. Reluctantly, I pulled myself from the covers of bed. I stretched out, releasing a loud yawn and trudged downstairs.
I threw some bread into the toaster and smothered it with butter and ate it.
"First Day!" My mother appeared from the living doorway and threw her arms around my chest. I broke free, displaying my obvious distaste. I changed into my uniform, a navy blazer, a black skirt and an ocean blue tie. I tackled my long light brown hair and spect it down. I swung my violet back pack over my shoulder and headed out the door.

I walked for around 10 minutes until I reached my school. A large bleak building, with a large green field behind the main building. Other smaller buildings surrounded the larger one.
I wasn't particularly popular, neither particularly intelligent or pretty. I was pretty much average. I enter through the large gates and found my friends in the crowed main hall. Oscar, Kyle, Cassie and Lily.
"Oh hey Emilia," Oscar turned around and greeted me.
I discussed the summer and picked up my timetable. Ugh. Maths. I hate Maths.
Gingerly, I left morning tutor and fought my way through the bustling corridors to my maths class. I slid into a seat by Cassie and awaited Miss Rose to enter. Unsurprisingly, the old miserable woman was unmarried and rightly so. Who would want to marry that ball of unhappiness and boredom.
Cassie leaned over to me and spoke in a hushed voice,
"We're going to the old farm house tonight, 6 o'clock."
"Cool, I'll meet you there," I replied.
I grimaced through the day. Miss Rose seemed more miserable than last year and more likely to fight to bring the cane pack. History and IT made me long for summer more and English was more of a sleep session. Finally, we had PE. I was fairly athletic and enjoyed most sports, it was a decent lesson.
I walked home, went upstairs and changed into a violet vest and Jean shorts. I grabbed my backpack and shoved a drink, some food, money and my phone and headed out the the door.
"Cassie! Wait up!" I called after Cassie and jogged to meet her.
We continued down the pavement meeting with the others, a short woodland path lead to an open field, it was neglected and forgotten. The old house at out of place in the middle. People say it's haunted. Others say weird things happen in their.
"Emilia, I dare you to go in.." Kyle suggests.
"Uhh, sure," I answer
Cassie looks at me nervously. Oscar shares the glance,Lily tries to argue but I speak over her.
"I'll be fine. It's stupid tales..." I convince myself.
I climb up the stairs and creaks open the door....
The front room was absent of light, one ripped sofa and burned coffee table, smothered by dust.
An odd glow crept from the basement door, I swung open it.
A portal stood in front of me.
