Chapter 7

When I woke I was laying in my bed. My sister Naomi was sitting facing me, watching me. I freaked out remembering about our last encounter, or what I thought was our last. I curled up and started freaking out, "Please don't hurt me, I swear I didn't mean to take advantage of you." Naomi just looked at me a bit confused. "Athena I haven't seen you in months, how could you possibly have taken advantage of me?" she asked. "Prove it's you then, do something only you could do and not a shape shifter," I said. She closed her eyes obviously deep in thought. "Mom says hello," she replied, "and dad says to be careful of your surroundings, things aren't always as they seem to be."

I was left stunned. Naomi simply walked out the door to the outside world. I sat there all by myself with nothing but my thoughts. I could hear talking outside. I get off the bed and walk over to the window. Naomi is talking to someone I can't see. "I hope this isn't a setup," is all I could think. I listen in... "She seems to be acting weird, what did you guys do to her?" Naomi asks. "Why do you think I did this or my organization? We are here to protect her from a greater evil. You remember it was you who sought us out and told us about it." The man replied in a harsh whisper. "I sought you out because you told me to. You said if I ever sensed anything dangerous I should come to you." Naomi whispers back. Both of them are terrible whisperers.

Soon enough I got bored and I was afraid of getting caught listening to Naomi's conversation. I sit down on the couch and stretch. Then I turn on the television and started watching whatever was on. I wasn't sure exactly what it was but I watched it anyway. Eventually my sister walked in. I didn't look up, she knew something that I didn't. I really hated it when she did. She walked over and stood in front of the TV like a pissed off child. "Naomi, move!" I said angrily. "We need to talk Athena," she pushed. "Piss off! No we don't," I yelled. Naomi looked hurt. "Fine, I'll leave, and I'll have my people leave as well. Then we will report you back to your pursuers." I couldn't take it anymore, I jumped from the dimension. When I got out of the dimension I passed out.

When I woke up I had no idea where I was, then I remembered. I looked around and to my surprise my sister was with me. She was unconscious and looked extremely pale. I've never brought anyone who wasn't my uncle or my trainer out of a dimension. Thoughts were flooding my mind, how did my sister end up out here. I don't remember grabbing her or her being anywhere near me. I quickly rushed over to her which is hard to do. When I reached her I grabbed her and tried shaking her. She was unresponsive. With no idea how long I was passed out I didn't know how much longer she had at life: when someone goes to the in-between who isn't a time jumper or dimension jumper it literally starts sucking the life out of them. It puts massive amounts of pressure on their brain. Eventually there brain will literally blow up leaving behind bits of flesh and blood. They will be dead in an hour if not returned to their proper time stream, or a hospital that can release the pressure before there brain explodes.

I was scared, no terrified. I grabbed my sister and zapped us back to our time stream that we left. I laid her down on my bed and then started stripping her down. I had to put her in a bath tub or the process will continue. You have to remove all contaminated clothing or items. Then you have to allow the steam to release the pressure. I screamed for help as I filled the bath water up. Two men burst through the door carrying weapons. Once they saw Naomi they radioed in for a medic. One of the men radioed into his radio, "Medical evacuation. Activate Protocol 6." I had no idea what he was talking about. Within minutes 3 ambulances and 3 fire engines came and pulled up. They had a military looking logo on the door. The paramedics rushed in. They grabbed my sister and laid her down on a gurney. "Where are you taking her!?" I demanded through tears. They never answered. They loaded Naomi into an ambulance and then grabbed me and threw me in.

We were rushed to an underground hospital. There they unloaded Naomi and started calling out orders as they quickly rushed her to a room. The room was patted with mattresses and plastic. They were quarantining her. They locked the gurney to the floor and walked out shutting the door. I just sat down on the floor against the wall, waiting for what happens next. There was a really loud voice being broadcasted through speakers. "Warning, Protocol 6, is active. Protocol 6 is active." It just kept repeating itself.
