          It was his birthday and I had to run to the store to buy a last minute gift. Ahh, perfect. I know how much he loves painting, so I bought him two big canvases. He would love it. I didn’t have time to wrap them so I put it in a huge plastic bag and left.

          I parked on his driveway, and like always, his parents were the first ones there. I was glad that it wasn’t my turn this year to buy the drinks and the beer. That was Mindy’s job, Damian’s girlfriend.

          Mindy and I aren’t really friends, but I hung out with her because she was my best friend’s girlfriend. I used to think that she dated him for the money, and I still kind of do but I’ll have to deal with it until I have proof.

          I rang the doorbell and waited. No one answered the door so I decided to use my spare keys that Damian gave me. I opened the door and I was surprised to what I saw. No wonder Damian’s car was gone. He wasn’t even home, and there was Mindy, making out with some guy I didn’t even know on the couch of Damian’s favorite living room.

                    “What the-” I opened my eyes and dropped the bag I was holding.

                    “Lucy! What are you doing here so early?!” Mindy yelled. The guy under her was looking at me with confusion.

                    “I wanted to get here a little early so I could surprise Damian, but I think I’m the one that is surprised.”

                    “B-but why? They went to go buy the wine and crap.”

                   “What if I was him Mindy? What would you do?” I looked into her eyes, disappointed that my best friend will get hurt badly.

                    “You won’t tell him, right? You’re my friend!”

                   “Tell who what?” Damian said coming up behind me. I moved away and pointed at them, and the guy was already up getting his stuff. Damian’s mouth opened, his eyes filling up with furry.

                    “Who the hell is that?” He yelled. Mindy didn’t answer.

                    “Mindy? Answer me right now!”

                    “I-I’m so sorry!! I couldn’t help it!” Mindy bawled.

                   “Get out of my freaking house right now!” Damian yelled at the guy. The random guy ran out of the house without a word.

                    “You too. I don’t ever want to see you again. Get out of my house!”

                   “But baby! I love you! You know that!”
