Your POV

You all follow Kenny's GPS back to the road where the bus broke down, but you're interrupted by a sudden outburst of 'Macintosh Plus' playing from Kenny's phone. Three sets of eyes turn to him in question and he laughs before hitting answer.

"Hello?" You watch him expectantly, "No we're on our way back there now... We're with (y/n) and Stan..." He sees you about to ask a question and holds a finger to his lips in signal to wait, "Yep, okay, we already told her about that... Yeah, obviously, that's why we're heading back now, wait, who has the phone now?" He sighs and shakes his head before lowering the phone and looking at you and Stan, "Wendy asked if you remembered the map she saved on her phone,"

Both you and Stan exchange a look before shaking your heads.

"Right... Yep they didn't, now pass me back to Bebe... Yeah hey... Yes, we all know you wouldn't forget Bebe...Alright, see you in a bit, bye baby cakes," He smiles as the loud yell of Bebe can be heard before hanging up.

"Well?" you ask him expectantly.

"They found Craig and they're all on their way back now, apparently some people are on their way to fix the bus and get us to the camp site, it shouldn't be long before we get back," Kenny explains and you nod.

"Oh Gee, you guys, I don't like the look of the sky," Butters who has been unusually quiet for the whole time finally speaks up.

"I agree," You nod to him, "It looks like it's gonna rain any minute, are you sure there aren't any short cuts?"

"I'll see what I can do," Kenny replies before leading the way, pulling his orange parker hood over his head like he used to do as a kid, hiding his blonde mane of hair. Stan soon follows behind but you hang back with Butters, it's been a while since the two of you spoke outside of a group and he looks like he has a lot on his mind.

"You okay?" You ask quietly, avoiding the attention of Stan and Kenny.

He speaks in a very small voice, "Sort of,"

You watch him fidget and fumble his fingers together before pressing further on the subject, "What do you mean?"

"It's not important, really, it's fine,"

"Butters," You stop and give him a look. The sudden stop causes Stan and Kenny to turn around.

"Everything okay?" Kenny shouts, raising a hand over his eyes to see clearer through the now falling rain.

You wave your hand in dismissal, "Everything's fine," Before looking back at Butters and gesturing him to keep walking. His once bright blue eyes stare at the ground, dull and his fidgeting is even worse than usual.

You watch him carefully, studying his behavior and watch the trickle of raindrops bounce from his forehead and settle at different surfaces of his face. He avoids your stare altogether before finally speaking up, "Have you ever really liked someone before?"

The question catches you off guard, it reminds you of an earlier conversation you had with Stan, "Yes," You don't expect your voice to be so direct in all your embarrassment.

"Do you ever feel sort of jealous of how amazing they are? Like... I don't know, whenever I think about someone in particular, and how they are so good at everything, it makes me feel really bad, you know?"

You reach over to put your hand on his right shoulder comfortingly and pat his arm with your left hand, "I know," You confirm and nod encouragingly for him to continue.

"I feel like I'd never have a chance to be anything more than a friend to them, like, how do I match someone like that? And then I feel selfish for thinking like this because I shouldn't care about something so unimportant,"
