An ordinary day for an ordinary person like me
Same old daily routines done for school and for camaraderie
But what highlights this ordinary day
Is a special event celebrated by yours truly.
The day when a mother gave birth to a baby
Which then became her one and only.
Well taken care of since the day of her delivery
Making sure of her safety from day to day.
Nineteen years have passed
And the mother helped her adjust.
From the simplest details of life
To the complex dilemmas surpassed.
How she wishes time would just slow down
Letting her savour the moment and just cool down.
Reflecting on the things that has been done
And looking forward on what’s yet to come.
But now it can’t be denied,
The baby has grown and can now decide
On the path she should take and the things she wanted
Having friends on her side and her parents as guide.
I never expected I would be this much happy
Since I thought it would be again just another ordinary day.
But at times when I pass by the hall way,
Friends call and greet me happy birthday.
The fact that they were able to remember me
Just lightens up my day.
I would never forget this ordinary day
Because today, I just celebrated my nineteenth birthday.
