It was a cool September night over the bay of San Francisco. It was seemingly calm, maintaining a quiet state. In the deep waters waited Salem, a young mermaid around 17 years old. She waited for what seemed like a short time before Marienette, a slightly older mermaid 31 in age arrived. "Marienette, are you ready? They will be arriving shortly, so we don't have a lot of time." Salem warned looking at he moon. "I know Salem, but you know how it is for mothers to say good bye to their children. It kills us. Can you give me a minute to say good bye to her?" Marienette looked like she hadn't slept in days. That's how she looked to Salem anyway. "Yes, I will go check to see if they are near arrival yet." Salem ducked into the water and out of sight. "Siren, I love you." She kissed the forehead of the baby she was holding. "I always will, no matter what happens i'll always be with you, inside." She reached and grabbed a small delicate chain from around her neck and pulled it over her head. On the chain sat a silver crescent moon charm. She slid it over the child's neck just as Salem popped back up again. "They will be here any second" she glanced all around them. "Mar... I need to bring her to safety." Marienette handed Salem the child and urged her to leave. Salem approached the shore and slid a silver ring with a blood red gem stone onto her finger. Then she pulled herself and the child onto the shore and her tail changed to a pair of legs.
Salem walked for about a mile until she found the house she had been looking for. She took her ring off a put it on the moon-charm chain, laying the child on the doorstep and rang the doorbell. She hid behind a nearby bush as a young man and woman answered the door. Noticing the child they picked her up and took her inside. "You'll have a good life young warlock, I can guarantee it." She whispered as she jumped off the nearest dock and swam away.
