Yarp. Surprise!
One of the things I was most worried about (aside from, of course, vaginal labour and creating a tiny human), was what the hell was I going to wear through this? I don't think I'm particularly fashionable, but I knew that most maternity offerings were NOT going to work. I am just not a fan of floral patterns, cheap fabrics, and tent dresses. And bows. WTF is up with all the bows?
In Canada there are 2 maternity chain stores: Thyme Maternity and Motherhood Maternity. And both were really not my jam. And I tried, believe me. For a hilarious article on this, check out McSweeney's!
So, this story is all about trying to keep your A game and feel reasonably put together, while your body literally transforms into a host for an alien life form.
