"Just when I thought I'd seen it all
our paths crossed and met
and I Knew from the First glance
that u would be hard 2 4get"

"Richard! Come down here please" Mama called from downstairs. I sighed and rubbed my eyes out of tiredness.
I got out of bed and paused the music streaming from the sound cloud app. I walked out of my room and looked two doors down to see my little brother rapping and bopping his head to Drake's latest album as it played throughout his room and playing 2k17 on his playstation. I jogged down the mahogany winder staircase. I traveled through the warm dimly lit living room where the television played the local news station. The news reporter informed there viewers with the negative things going on locally and in the world. I didn't like it at all. nun of it seemed real to me. I reached for the remote which laid on the small table beside the creme plastic covered sofa and switched off the TV. I soon made my way into the kitchen where my mother, Joanne, chopped up vegetables  on the bamboo cutting board. She suddenly stopped cutting and shot a look at me.
" Boy, did you turn off my news?" she asked sharply.
" Yes, why do you watch that? its filled with nothing but negativity in world." I explained.
" Negativity my ass. its very informative. Now before you leave, you better turn my damn 6:00 news back on before I miss it" she snapped. i sighed
" Ok.. but where am i going?"
"I need you to go to the bodega and pick up some groceries to last you guys while I'm gone."
It almost slipped my mind that she is leaving on her business trip tomorrow morning. My mom is a full time accountant and sometimes she leaves to go on business trips out of the state. As a single mother, she works her ass off for me and my younger brother Aaron to have a roof over our head and food to eat. After work she comes home and cooks, cleans and sleeps until she has to wake up for work to go to her office. I try my best to step up and help out around the house as the man of the house. My father died a few years back for getting into the wrong types of stuff in the streets. My dad soled drugs here and there to make ends meet. My mom didn't agree with his lifestyle and they had there differences. They argued alot but there was still alot of love between them. My father taught me how to be a man at an early age and told me he wanted me to grow up to be better than him. He told me I have potential of being someone great. I mean, I believed him but I'm 19 and i still haven't found my purpose and figured what i'm gonna do with my life. I feel like time is running out and I need to take action now. but where do I start?
" Ricky get my purse off the sofa so I can give you this money before it gets too late." my mom spoke while wiping the counter.
I dug my hand in the pockets of my jeans and found a few bills and change left.
" Nah, mama I got it. don't worry about it" I kissed her cheek and went upstairs to my room.
I slipped on my hoodie and shoved my phone and keys in the pockets of my jeans. I went back downstairs to the closet and put on my heavy winter coat and put on a black beanie to protect my head from the cold. I left out of our home and the harsh cold air hit my face. as i traveled down the street, i watched as the light snow floated in the air onto the ground covering it in more sheets of white. Minutes later, I arrived in front of the mini mart.
James, an older aged man that lives nearly stood in front of the store. Word around the way he used to be a king pin back in the 70's. He was cool with my father .
"Wassup youngin'"
" Sup J" I said dapping him his rough dry hands.
I went inside the store and grabbed a loaf of white bread, a carton of 12 large eggs, whole milk, juice and some candy for myself. I went to the register and the middle eastern man rung me up and handed me my bags.
" Have a nice night" he said in his heavy accent. I gave him a head nod and left out the store.
I walked down the street, towards my house. while walking, I heard a feminine voice not to far from where i was. I walked ahead more and saw two guys harassing a girl with dark curly hair.
" C-can you guys just leave me alone please.." her soft frightened voice pleaded.
" Not until you let us get up in that tight pussy babygurl" the light skin boy told her while stroking her cheek. she swatted his hand away while the other boy laughed.
I became angry at what I was witnessing and went over to them. I put my bags down and shoved the lightskin boy off of her and he fell to the ground.
"Yo, what you doing with her man, leave her alone" I told him. I took a look at the girl and her dark brown eyes pierced into mine like she was looking into my soul. She quickly looked away and ran, leaving just the three of us.
" Just trying get up them guts nigga, why you care anyways?!" He yelled while his friend helped him up. "Yo dawg, chill.." his friend calmly told him.
" Thats your girl or something man?" he asked me.
i thought for minute
"Yes, and I don't like how your were all in her face and shit" I said directing my attention back to the other boy.
" Sorry bro. We didn't know that was your lady. Come on Dom, lets go"
The boy and his friend soon left the area. I picked up my bags and went home.

I arrived home and put the groceries away in the kitchen. My mother thanked me as she drank the red liquid from her wine glass. I went to my blue colored room and switched on my lamp.
I searched throughout my drawers and grabbed some boxer briefs, a basic white t-shirt and some plaid pajama pants. I brung my clothes to the bathroom and took a hot shower. As the warm water ran over my body, I relaxed and took a deep breath. I got dressed in the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Minutes later, I went back to my room, turned off my light and laid in bed.
I closed my eyes and wondered back to the mystery girl. the look in her eyes.. where she could have went and who she could be. I hope she is ok and made it home safely.
