Always the cliché

A lot of times when I show my art to other people, I get compliments like, "You're so good!  I wish I could draw that well." Or, "Wow you're good.  I can't draw at all."  I normally just thank them with a big 'ol grin, excited that they enjoy my creation.  Though I do wonder, do you think I got that good out of nowhere?  In order to get good at something, dedication, determination, and enjoyment are absolutely needed.

Dedication- Things take time and practice.  Keeping pushing through and don't give up.  With time, you will get better.

Determination- There will be times when you feel like giving up.  Don't you want to know what it will be like if you achieved your goal?  Everything will be different.  Whether it is good or bad, that depends on what it is, how steps turn out, and fellow beings' reactions.

Enjoyment- In my opinion, it is the most important of all.  Sure, you have dedication and determination, but is it really worth it if you do not enjoy it?  Do you want to spend so much time and hard work on developing a skill you will not enjoy?  Be a little selfish and look for the merit in it, the merit that makes it fun.  Without enjoyment, what you are trying to achieve will not be as good as it could be compared to if you enjoyed it.

If you really want a skill, never give up.  Push through obstacles, shove through crowds that hold you back.  There is a wall of glass separating you from your goals.  You can see it, but you cannot reach it, touch it.  Break through that glass and come out stronger and better than before.

----

Note, I do realize that sometimes you have to develop a skill required for a job or task.  This deals with developing hobbies and past times like writing, drawing, playing guitar, learning to skate, whatever.  If you do find yourself in a spot where you have to learn something for a job or task, still try to find reasons as to why you should put your time and effort into it, other than it being needed from another person.

November 29, 2013 New cover!  Few photoshopped parts on this one.  This is me drawing with my Bamboo tablet :D  Figured since this was written about my art, I'd make the cover of me using my tablet.

You've reached the end of published parts.
