Amoura stares down her bed from her spot on the closet floor. She stays away from the bed for each night she turns and expects to feel Clive only to come in contact with empty air.
The closet is the only thing that still has his scent. Everything else is drowned in her own scent. "What do I do know?" She asks as she rests her head against her arms and knees.
"Amoura you coming down for breakfast?" May calls front the other side of the door. Amoura stays quiet until May leaves.
"Amoura you can't hide away forever?" May comes back that evening and sits against the door, "Amoura."
Amoura ignores her sister and stays quiet, "Amoura. Come on out. Please Amoura, you can't stay locked away forever." Amoura holds her knees together as Clive's words come back to haunt her.
She grabs the bottle around the neck and tosses it across the room, it hits the wedding photo, "you're dead. You don't get to tell me how to be now, You're dead. You left me so get out of my head." Amoura turns away and stares at another wall.
"Amoura come on its been a month you have to come out, you're going to get sick from the alcohol and no food diet," Amoura ignores her and stares at nothing, all the alcohol has given her a stomach ache and standing still is the best way to avoid upsetting her already angry stomach.
"Amoura." May sits outside the bedroom door trying to get Amoura to speak to her, yet nothing but silence comes from Amouras room.
"Anything May?" May sighs as she looks at her mother, "no. I haven't even heard movement from her room since Friday. That was almost a week ago mom. If it weren't for the heartbeat I'd fear she was dead. The other Commanders all tried to get her to come out but she doesn't respond to them, Rowan was the last person she spoke to. And that was two weeks ago. She hasn't responded to him since then." May stares at the plate of food she made Amoura, "she hasn't eaten in two weeks mom."
The front door opens and Rowan speaks up, "she'll be fine. She spent two years in the Shadow unit, General Alzack probably starved her for months on end. Two weeks won't do her much harm. May looks up as he puts bags of food down, you on the other hand do need to eat. I brought everything on the list you gave me." Rowan puts the house keys on the table before he unpacks the food.
"Thank you for sticking around Rowan." Layla speaks up from the computer screen, it was no problem. Rowan looks at May, after all she is my mate. Each day he stays he wonders if May knows they are meant for one another. Then again she is under age and hasnt shifted so chances are she has no clue what she already means to him.
"We need laundry soap and dish soap too, I forgot to add it on the list." Rowan stops her from pacing around the kitchen. "How about you go to the store, you need to get out. Being inside for so long can be bad. Go and I'll stay with Stone." Layla backs Rowan and May reluctantly agrees.
Rowan quickly puts the food away and washes the dishes before making her way upstairs, "Stone. You need to snap out of it. Stone, you're only worrying your family. You're making your little sister an unstable mess. Stone. Come on out." Silence.
Rowan rests against the stair railing, "I read your file Stone. You survived a year of Alzacks torture how is it that losing one man has broken you?" Amoura doesn't say anything.
The sound of chains clanking against metals walls is all Amoura hears these days.
Rowan stares at the door as he recalls what Stone told her weeks ago, 'the only way I know how to put myself together would be everything he wouldn't want me to be.'
"You saved thirty four people who had the misfortune to end up under the Shadow Units control. You gave up your life once to save your unit. You weren't all monster even when that is all that you saw." Rowan turns to leave when he sees May at the bottom of the stairs, looking at him in awe.
