Jacquees's Point of View ~ Friday, 1:57pm
I'm currently seated in the waiting room at a clinic with Chey at my side. She asked me to come in with her to see how her pregnancy is progressing and I agreed. We still haven't settled our whole argument — after a whole week — but it's still my child so I had to set that aside. Looking over at her, I took in her appearance as she flipped through a magazine. I could tell she was still upset with me but I didn't have the energy for the attitude that was probably building up within her so I simply gave her knee a squeeze. She shot me a look, "It was you who left the house that night so don't expect me to give in to your charm, Quees."
I raised an eyebrow, "So you expected me to come back with chocolate and flowers, begging for your forgiveness?" She shrugged before resting the magazine on the table. "I'm not the one who threw a fit because they finally realized how jealous of my ex-wife they actually are." Her jaw dropped, "What is with you and that woman, Qiees? You have had women falling at your feet most of your life and you find yourself hooked on your ex-wife! Hell, you have me now! I've stood there by you when your friends judged you for leaving her and you'd still choose her over me. Why? What is it that she did that I can't possibly do?" I honestly felt bad because she was trying so hard.
"Chey, listen to me. You need to stop comparing yourself to her because it's going to drive you insane. I left her and even when she came back into my life, I stuck by your side. Why is it that you don't believe me?" Just as she was about to answer, we got called in to see the doctor. Walking into the room that was actually kind of small, I helped Chey up onto the seat. I sat in the chair on the side as the doctor started asking her a few questions. I was caught up in my thoughts. I'm hurting Chey and I didn't realize it till now. But what is a father to do, huh? LaToya is basically the mother of my kids and without her, I don't know what they'd do. I have to keep her around for them but keeping her around makes Chey think that I want her back.
I watched as he placed the gel onto her stomach; her shirt was already bunched up. He scanned her stomach and after a few seconds, the baby appeared on the screen and I heard a sniff coming from Chey. Looking over at her, I noticed a tear streaming down her face. Reaching over to her, I ran my thumb across her cheek and wiped it away causing her to look at me. I gave her a smile and she returned it, surprisingly. I have another bundle of joy on the way, number four. Grinning at the thought, I started to remember when RJ was born but then my smile faded because that's when I first proposed to LaToya. Shaking my head, I dismissed the thought and watched as he wiped the gel off of her stomach. I helped her down and she adjusted her shirt as she turned to the doctor.
They shared a few words but honestly, I didn't even know what to say. My mind wasn't in the right place. Glancing at my watch, I noticed that it was around the time that we should be heading out to pick up the kids from school. Once we were done, we walked out to the parking lot hand in hand but before we got into the truck, I stopped her. Cupping her face in my hands, "Can you promise me something?" She made a face but nodded anyway, "Promise that you'll be more understanding. Baby, the only reason I'm still in contact with her is for the kids. You know that they love her very much and as a father, I keep her around for them. Nothing more." She looked into my eyes before nodding, "Okay, Quees. I believe you and I'm sorry for being so insecure."
I sighed, kissing her forehead, "It's okay." With that, we both got into the car and made the fifteen minute drive to RJ's school. He was standing outside with his class and his teacher, Ms. Johnson. Getting out, I watched as he ran over to the truck and into my arms. "What's good, lil man?" He was giddy for absolutely no reason just like every other Friday. "Everything's good, daddy. Can we please have pizza for dinner? Please, please.." I thought about it for a second. If we got pizza, I wouldn't have to make dinner. I agreed, helping him into the truck before getting in. The twins' school was further down the street so it didn't take us too long to get there. Parking, I looked through the crowd of students for the twins and I finally spotted them walking with Will towards the truck.
