While lying on the road, Jaymie couldn’t hear anything but she can clearly see herself bathe with blood. She wants to scream but all she can do is cry. Trying to ask for help, she crawled but suddenly she felt like falling and when she opened her eyes, she was on her bedroom floor.

“It was just a dream, what a relief,” says her.

Jaymie was on her first year in college, just two weeks ago they had an educational trip to Tagaytay. But she wasn’t able to join her classmates because she was sick and she just got out of the hospital two days ago.

“How was the trip?” Jaymie asked her classmates but only their sad stares and unclear murmurs are what they replied to her. Ignoring them, she sat beside her boyfriend, Kevin, who was a little bit strange.

“Okay, that’s all for today class,” shouted their literature professor. And suddenly all her classmates get out the room leaving Jaymie and Kevin.

“How was the trip?” Jaymie asked.

“It was fine, Kevin replied. “But it would have been better if you were there.” Jaymie smiled at him because that’s what he wanted to hear and they went home.

During the night, Jaymie had a nightmare again, the same nightmare that she has been seeing for two days now. And every night these nightmares are getting really scary that she almost feels that it was real. Riding on a bus with her classmates and suddenly seeing herself lying on the road bathed with blood, and she always find herself falling off her bed. When she woke up, it was only two in the morning. She was so scared that she can’t go back to sleep.

Suddenly something hit her window. When she looked down, it was Kevin, throwing pebbles on her window. She opened it and let him in.

“What are you doing here?” She asked. “It was just two in the morning, aren’t you sleeping?” ”I thought you’ll need me,” he murmured. So I’m here to comfort you.”

“How did you know?” Jaymie asked while she smiles because Kevin was there at times that she needed him most telling her all the things she wanted to hear.“How do I stop the nightmares?”

“I don’t know,” Kevin said. “But for now, just don’t sleep and talk with me.” And the two talked about their experiences together.

They were together since high school and their field trip two weeks ago was their third anniversary. They started to reminisce everything they gone through until finally Jaymie fell asleep.

Suddenly Jaymie felt riding on a bus with her classmates and they were singing and shouting along the zigzag road when suddenly a fast approaching car bumped to them. The scene was so fast that all she knew is that she’s lying on the road and Kevin was embracing her. No one in the class was injured except for Kevin. His chest was stricken by a pole that the car was carrying and which was supposed to hit Jaymie. And as she lay on the road, she knew she was bathing with Kevin’s blood. She finds herself shouting and suddenly she heard the voice of her mom asking her to wake up. And when she opened her eyes she was with her mother but Kevin was no longer there.

“Where is Kevin?” Jaymie asked.

“It was just a dream honey,” her mother whispered kissing her forehead.

“Mom, I had a bad dream but before I go to sleep I was beside Kevin. Where is he?” Jaymie murmured to her mom.

“Kevin is gone dear,” her mom said.

“What?” Jaymie said. “Did he go home without telling me?”

But in a little while the door opened and Kevin entered into the room. He’s smiling at her trying to tell her that it’s okay and it was only a dream.

“Oh, there you were Kevin,” Jaymie joyfully said pertaining to someone behind her mom. “I had a bad dream and you’re on it. I just wanna —

“Stop it Jaymie! Enough!” her mother interrupted.

“Why mom? I was just telling him my nightmare and —

“Kevin is DEAD!!” her mother finally said. In hearing this, Jaymie looked at Kevin who was looking at her sadly.

“Mom, what are you talking about?” Jaymie uttered.“He was just right behind you.”

“He died two weeks ago,” Her mother explained. “On your field trip.. Don’t you remember honey? Where he saved your life?”

“No! That’s not true! You’re a Liar!!” Jaymie insisted.

“Your mom is telling the truth Jaymie,” Kevin finally sighed. “I am really dead. And the reason why I am here is because you’re only imagining that I am still here.”

“No! No! No!” Jaymie shouted repeatedly and all the memories of that day flashed back. She’s seeing all her nightmares again and knowing that it really happened makes her mind turn. Her head ached and she finally broke down. When she opened her eyes she saw Kevin smiling at her.

“It feels good to imagine that I’m still here but it’s much better if you live by the truth,” Kevin said. “But I love you that much that I don’t want to lose you,” Jaymie begged him but he only smiled and said:

“You have to let me go and accept that I am gone.” Kevin whispered. “I’ll appreciate it the most if you set yourself free.”

Tears fell from her eyes as she embraces him. And when she opened her eyes, she was lying on her bed and all her classmates are there trying to comfort her.
