"Yess, finally." I slid the backyard door open walking right back inside into the cool a.c.
I wiped the small beads of sweat from off my forehead.
"Lord, it's hot out there." I mumbled to myself.
Today was finally the day of Elana's birthday and we were currently setting the place up.
Aug had hired people to set up the place but I hated the way they fixed the banner so I made Sneak and Travis fix it, which had taken us about fifteen minutes.
"Look at mommy's birthday girl." I cooed as I watched Elana stuff her face with the eggs, bacon, and pancakes Ms. Sheila had volunteered to make for everyone during breakfast.
She smiled hugging onto me.
"Look what grandma gave me?" She pointed to the birthday tiara that was placed on her head.
"That's pretty." She nodded her head stuffing two grapes into her mouth.
"Slow down or you will choke."
I kissed her on her cheek, while playing with the wild curls on her head.
God help me for when I'm trying to do this little girls hair later.
"Good mornin' baybeh'." August placed a kiss on the side of my head then moved onto Elana.
"I hurd' it's someone's birthday today!"
"Daddyyy." She whined.
"Did you forget?"
"Forget what?"
"My birthday!" He chuckled.
"I'm just playin' princess I could neva' forget yo' birthday."
"Good! Now where's my present?" He pulled out a small box, sitting her right back down on the stool.
He gave her the small box, letting her unwrap it.
"Okay now, open it." She lifted the lid only for everyone to see a gold necklace with her initial of her first name on it.

"It's so pretty! Thank you daddy." She jumped into his arms squeezing him tight.
I took my phone quickly snapping a picture of the two.
"Happy Birthday to youu...Happy Birthday to youu!" Everyone began to sing as Ms.Sheila placed a big vanilla cupcake right in front of her plate with a lit candle.
