All she's ever known was needles, lab coats, and the small bed she got in the tiny room she was held captive in. The smell of chemicals and rubber gloves was all she really smelled. Sometimes she'd have the sensation of burning flesh whenever she was shocked for doing something wrong.
She lived as an experiment. A thing everyone poked and messed with. She wasn't loved or cared for. She had no real home or parents. No friends or people to talk to. If she tried talking to one of the "white coats" she'd get shocked and wouldn't be allowed to eat for the remainder of the day. Food wasn't that good anyway. All it was, was mashed up slop they'd just put together. Only on a rare occasion would she get real food.
Did she ever fight back? No. Did she ever try to escape? No. How could she when there was a collar around her neck and a tracker located in her arm? Even if she could escape, where would she go? Real people wouldn't know what to do with her. She was a freak. A girl with wings and emotion controlled eyes. The real people would probably send her back to the lab and she would be punished for leaving. Maybe killed.
Her heart dropped at the thought of being killed. But then again, maybe she'd have a better chance of living if she was dead.
"Grub time LB34," Dr. Gabriel Agreste says as he gives the girl a bowl of oatmeal.
"Thank you, Dr. Agreste," she says as she consumes the food.
Dr. Agreste was the only one who didn't treat the girl like straight trash. He actually liked the girl. But if his colleagues found out that he was caring for an experiment he wouldn't hear the end of it.
As the girl licked her bowl clean, there was a giant boom and an alarm sounded.
"What's going on?" The girl wondered as she rose to her feet. People began to run around, trying to find their way out.
Smoke filled LB34's room as she began to panic. She pounded on her door.
"Help me!" she cried. "Don't leave me in here!! HELP!!!"
Everyone ran past her cell, leaving her to die.
Smoke filled her lungs and the girl collapsed.
"There's one more in here!" Someone says. He sees the girl and picks her up. "Don't be scared. You're safe now."
The girl woke up in a room. She wore a long red dress with black spots. She frantically looked around. The bed was soft. Bigger than her brick like bed back at the lab. The room she was in was much bigger than the cell she had too. It even had a window.
The girl instantly reach her hand for her neck. No collar. And there were stitches on her arm. The tracker was gone as well.
Was she dreaming? Did she die? She had no clue where she was but as of now she was loving it.
The girl got up and went to the door. Opening it, there were 4 kids sitting at a table. One of the girls looked up and noticed her standing there.
"Oh my gosh girl you had me worried," the girl says. "I'm Alya, but around here I'm known as Lady Wifi!"
"W-where am I?"
"Don't worry about that," Alya tells her. "Just know that you're safe with us."
Alya walked over to the girl and led her to everyone else.
"This is Nino, aka The Bubbler."
"What's up, dudette?"
"This is Jade, aka Madam Absorb."
"Hiya!"
"And this is Adrien, aka Chat Noir. He was the one who found you and saved you from the fire."
Adrien only waved at the girl and gave a small smile.
"What's your name?" Alya asks.
"My name?"
"Yea! What do people call you?"
"LB34," she says.
"Ohh you didn't get a name. Well, pick a name. What do you want us to call you?"
"How about a Jeanette?" Jade suggested.
"She looks like a Sarah to me," Nino says.
"Marinette," the girl says. "I wanna go by Marinette."
"I like it," Alya says. "What made you think of that?"
"When Dr. Agreste walked by he had a file in his hand. It said Marinette on it and had a lot of information. I don't know, I just liked the name."
"Well it's perfect," Jade compliments.
"Now all you need is a code name."
"Oh okay."
"So I see you have wings. Is there anything else unique about you?"
"Unique? I'm not unique. I'm just a freak. A nothing."
"A nothing? Girl we're all freaks here," Alya says.
"You are?"
Alya made electricity run through her fingers. Marinette looked a bit scared at first but calmed down when she noticed Alya wasn't gonna hurt her.
Nino made a bubble appear, but it wasn't a normal bubble. It had spikes and was purple.
Jade touched Alya and was able to do the same thing.
"If you haven't noticed," she began. " I can absorb others powers.
"Cool!" Marinette looked over at Adrien. "Do you have powers?"
Adrien touched the wall and it rusted away.
"Whoa! That's why they call you Chat Noir. You have bad luck like a black cat."
Marinette looked at the rusted wall and ran her hands across it. The wall went back to it's normal form and everyone gasped. Including Marinette.
"Y-you fixed the wall," Nino says.
"Adrien, touch something else!" Alya commands.
Adrien touched the table and its rotted away. When Marinette touched it, it came back together.
"Wow! You're totally destruction and you're creation. It's like you two were meant for each other!" Alya gushed.
Marinette and Adrien blushed.
"But you needa nickname too dudette," Nino said.
Jade smiled, clapping her hands together.
"I've got it! Since you're Chat Noir because of bad luck, you could be Ladybug because you have good luck!"
Marinette smiled. She liked the name.
"Or because she's wearing a ladybug printed dress," Nino commented.
"That is not why, Nino!"
"I was just saying, I mean..."
And an argument broke out.
"Are they always like this?" Marinette asked.
"Yup. Brother sister type stuff, I guess," Adrien replied.
"But we're used to it," Alya added.
Marinette smiled a little. She liked her new life style. She has friends now and a real place to call home.
Life as a Miraculous Freedom Fighter is gonna be great!
