I sit there on my iPhone with my headphones in.
" honey!." I take the earbuds out of his ear, we need to talk.
" yes mom."I look at her with a dull look, thinking I hate when she does that !
Do I need to go in there and talk to the principle ?whats her name? Ms. Trunchable ??."
No, mom that's the worst thing possible for you to do it will make me look like a wimp.!"
Ok honey, calm down. Its just the fact that you're afraid to go to school and I have to fight with you every morning... It isn't right! I can't stand it knowing you won't stick up to them and they continue to pick on you.. You know it isn't bad to be different and stick out I hope you know that." She sighs.
I sigh and look down
at my Nikes " I'm trying mom, it's not easy to stand up to you're bully you know ? I feel like the more I try to stand up for myself, I just keep embarrassing myself and making it worse than it already was. " it's humiliating!!.But trying to avoid and hide from the bullies will be just as bad she says as she rubs my back " you have to give it a shot honey. I know it's hard, nothing is ever easy. She kisses the top of my head and continues to drive.
I sit up and say thanks mom, I needed some encouragement, but do you think they will actually listen to me.
Maybe not, but at least they know you're not as vulnerable and wimpy as they think.
Mom, really you just had to use the word wimpy !?.
Sorry sweetie, they will at least know you can stick up for yourself. She smiles at
me " Be brave and have confidence ."I knew lance and Troy weren't going to listen to me but, my mom made it feel like maybe it was a possibility and I could do this. And I liked that about her she was always there to encourage and support me.which is surprising due to the fact that my dad left her when they had me, he just couldn't handle the stress and pressure of having a strange, and outcast son. But the word he used that bugged me the Most and made me cringe was when he said " He's different." just look at me, I don't need to hear that I can look in the
Mirror and know that myself. But she is doing good on her own raising me.We get to the school and she drives off well here it goes. I throw my bag back over my shoulder and start to walk into the school..
