The Stars glitch overhead. Shifting in an odd angle within a two minute frame. I roll my eyes as my breath plumes in front of me. "Stupid fake stars," I mumble to myself. Of course I'm the last one to leave the training hall again, I've totally missed curfew but it was worth the few extra hours I had with my sniper rifle.
I cut across the court yard towards my dormitory. I hold back another eye roll at the thought of my roommate snoring all night. No wonder I'm so freaking tired...that asshole... I think to myself. I approach the steel door awaiting my code and I wave my wrist under the electronic scanner. We all get branded the day we're born just to enter certain doors. It seems like bull to me but what do I know.
The door slides open after a little green light flashes, accepting that I'm not a deranged serial killer. I step inside and the cold air immediately leaves my body. Walking down the white hallway I turn left towards the chrome elevators but think twice and walk a little farther. I open the door and start jogging up the pristine stairs, what's a little more cardio? When I get to the seventh floor I turn down another white hall and stop at door 178. I sweep my wrist under the scanner, it beeps and opens. I close the door behind me and already I hear Rogue snoring. Now I roll my eyes, that damn kid. I take a sharp right and walk to the refrigerator. Opening the door I take out a water bottle, down it and throw it down the garbage chute. Our dorms aren't that bad, there are two bedrooms with bathrooms in each one and when you come through the door the living room and kitchen, which is pretty much unneeded because our rations come through a chute in the wall, are right there. The only down side is that everything is white. I don't know what it is about the white but the government really likes it.
I head to my room and pull off my boots, place them neatly in a corner and take off my jacket. I walk to the bathroom and take off my clothes. In the shower the water runs over me as I stare at the ground. The End Game is so close,it's so close Civil you finally made it. Eighteen years of hardcore training will finally pay off and you can see everyone that ever hurt you cower in your presence...you're almost there...just two more days and you'll be there...the High State...
I pull on some clothes and flop into bed. I sigh as I look at the clock, 2:02 a.m. "Well, so much for going to bed on curfew," I say. Closing my eyes I can feel the spell of sleep falling over me. I rotate my body to a more comfortable position and drowsiness clouds my mind. Two days...and you won't have to look at these fake stars...
