I layed there in my bed, looking up at the ceiling. I thoght of the strangest things. My imagination was always at work. I didn't even realize what time it was. "Rosie, get up! It's almost 10:00!" I bolted straight up. I braided my hair and pinned it up into a bun. I threw on my cleanest shirt and jeans, and the first shoes i saw. I ran down the stairs and out the door. The streets were completly alive. The cars were driving past, women were gossiping, and the men eying women.

I heared one man wistle at me. "Go to hell." I said and casually and continued on my way. I heared them laughing after that but i didnt care.

When i arrived at the cafe, my manager said "You're late."

"I know, I know." I replied and put on my apron. "What can i get for you?" I said taking out my order pad.

"Can I have a sprite please?" The person replied. Thats when i looked up. I was speechless. his eyes were the deepest blue i had ever seen. I hadn't even looked at anything but his eyes.

"Hello?" He said. I had gotton lost in his eyes. "Oh I'm sorry. Anything else?" and then he smiled. He smiled the greatest smile I'd ever seen. "A cesar salad as well please." "that'll be right out." I say as i walk away. As I turned away, i smiled so big. I couldn't help it. He was my favorite table. Even when i was taking orders, i kept looking back at him sitting all alone. He saw me a couple times, but i just quickly turned away and back again. At one of my tables, an elderly woman said to me "Well, are you going to stare at him untill he leaves or are you going to make a move?"

"Sorry?" I replied.

"I said, are you just going to stare at him all day or are you going to make a move?" I chuckled. "I don't know." I said in response. "He'd never go for a girl like me." "life is shorter than you think." The old woman said. "Go talk to him."

"Thank you." I said. and i started to make my way towards his table in the corner. But when i got there, I froze. "Hows the salad?" I asked, not knowing what else to say. "It's fine. It's kind of hard to mess up a salad." He said. I laughed, and so did he, smiling that beautiful smile.

I later saw him walk out and i said "Thank you have a nice day!" He smiled, pointed back to the table, said "you too," and left. I walked over to the table and next to the check he had written on a napkin, "I thought you might want this. My name's Jace by the way. And you're Rosie (I saw your name tag.)" Then below, he had written his number. I took the napkin and put it in my apron. I smiled the whole rest of the day

"What are you smiling about?" My mother asked later at dinner.

"nothing. I guess i'm just happy today" I lied. After dinner, I ran upstairs and called him.

"What took you so long?" he asked.
