The next day, everybody just hangs out at our house again. Nobody seems to have the energy to go do anything, so for once, we have a lazy day, and just sit around and watch netflix.
Lucy works today, but it's Sunday, so Ira, Ally, Sam, and Colby come over to my apartment in the afternoon. The boys don't have a video today, so they're free.
My mom is out running arrends with my sister, so it's just my crew. Colby and Ally chill on the same couch they sat on last night, Ira sits in my big nest chair with Nugget, and Sam and I park ourselves in the giant beanbag.
We turn on a movie, something about werewolves. It looked interesting.
A few minutes into it, and Colby and Ally are throwing popcorn at each other, trying to controle their giggles. Nugget hops onto the floor and eats their ammo.
I laugh, looking at Sam, but find him already looking at me.
I don't know how it happened, but about a half hour later, we were cuddled up together. His arms around my waist, my legs thrown over his legs, head resting against his chest, over his heart.
Neither of us say anything. We just stayed there, enjoying each other's presence.
I look over at Ally and Colby, and find them in a simalier position, though Ally was leaned back agaist Colby's chest, and they're holding hands still.
I peek up at Sam, who looks like he's drowsing. I smile, feeling safe here, in his arms, surrounded by my family. The ones I chose, who chose me back.
And for the first time in a while, I fell asleep easily.

I wake up when my mom texts me tha she's on her way back. I blink sleepily, looking around.
I turn my head and spot Sam still next to me, sleeping. His face is relaxed, and I smile at how adorable he looks.
I brush his hair out of his face, and his eyes flutter as he starts to wake up.
I turn around and notice that Ira is gone, the tv is off, and Colby and Ally are nowhere in sight.
I furrow my brows, confused, but turn back to Sam as he wakes up.
"Hey. What time is it?" He asks sleepily.
I check my phone. "A little after 7. My mom's on her way back, but I don't know where everybody else went." I tell him.
He looks around at the empty apartment before turning back to me.
"Wait, after 7? You hungry?" He asks.
I nod. "Yeah, why?"
He smiles. "Want me to make some dinner?"
"Really?" I ask.
"Yeah. I like cooking with you. Let's go figure out what you have to make." He says, grabbing my hand and pulling me up with him.
We decide on tacos, both chicken and beef, and figured it would make for good leftovers. He browns the meat while I cut up veggitables.
As the sound of sizzling meat and the exhaust fan fill the air, I sing quietly, my heart a little happier.
Sam looks over at me from over his shoulder and smiles.
"What song is that?" He asks.
I blush a little, surprised he heard me.
"Nothing, just something I've been working on." I tell him.
