Her heart was beating fast in her chest. Her legs sore from running, but she continues to get faster as it gets closer. The night started well, who knew it would end like this. She continued to run through the dense forest, pushing tree branches aside and jumping fallen trees as she made her way closer to the main road into town. It kept following no matter how far she ran. Jade knew she couldn't out run this thing. It was too fast and strong and she was so tired. She ran past the small lake they swam in earlier, and up the beaten bush track into a large clearing, where she stopped to breathe before continuing the last 50 meters to the road. Her breathe heavy, heart jumping out of her chest. She ran faster than before, she reached the road only a few meters ahead of whatever was pursing her. She ran past the trees and onto the road without looking. A truck on the road quickly squealed to a stop only inches from where Jade stood. "What are you doing?" the truck driver yelled clearly frustrated. "I'm sorry something was chasing me," Jade replied softly. "Want a ride kid?" the driver asked. She hopped in the passenger side and buckled up. The driver dropped her off at a petrol station just outside of town but far enough away from the monster. Or so she thought. Jade went inside and bought some water and walked outside towards the phone booth, when the beast ran out of the forest towards her. Jade screamed and turned to run but it was too late the monster was already on top of her breathing heavily. Its hot breath dampening her face and hair. Suddenly the worker from the petrol station burst out of the big double doors, shot gun in hand. "What's all the screaming for?" he yelled out too Jade. "Shoot it!" she screamed. "Shoot what?" he bellowed back. "The monster!" she yelled back. "There is no monster," he called before heading back inside. The beast smiled a big toothy smile. Jade screamed and screamed as she battled the monster. She screamed so much the owner of the petrol station called the police. They came and took Jade back to the station. Where they questioned her. They ran test until the sun came up. At last they concluded Jade was crazy and called the local mental institution. Jade wept the whole ride there as the beast sat on her shoulder grinning evilly. Jade spent the rest of her life in the town's mental hospital. All alone with her inner monsters.
