The story starts with 19 year old Nathan who is a year away from turning 20 and apparently to him, 20 is being a man. He's lived in a flat ever since he was 17 because he was in need of his own space. In the two years of being independant, he faced a lot and keeps on facing more trouble and obstacles but at the end, the real obstacle is whether the decisions he makes turn out to backfire or actually help.
One day, Nathan was at a grocery store to do some monthly shopping and he spotted a lady that he thought exactly looked like his mom. He became nostalgic and started recapping the last memories he had with his mom. He thought of the fridays he would sit by the house' gate and watch all the kids play soccer while he couldnt because he was not appreciated and his mom calling him to help her in the kitchen, he thought of the good times he had with her when she was hospitalized for cancer. He remembers not wanting to go home, nor school for the reason that noone was there to keep him company or to have fun with him and most of all, he remembers his mom putting him to bed after endless crying days by singing "story of my life".
After going through the best memories, he stops the lady, walks up to her and offers his help. The lady was however shocked and a bit panicky, thus she refused his help, dropped her grocery bag, her wallet, and fled from him.
Nathan felt remoreseful for his action and ran out trying to apologize for his sudden reflex but as he got out the door, and looked around, he saw noone. He then decided to get back in to continue with his grocerie shopping and saw the bag and the wallet the lady dropped as she was fleeing from him. He looked at the wallet to get some information and saw the lady's ID, then headed to an investigation when he was done at the store.
Nathan was determined to find the lady, his heart's feelings towards that lady was too strong for him to give up and as a result, he absented himself from school for a month. He left his place to hers on a monday afternoon. It however took longer than just one night to get to his destination.
On his way, during the road trip, he stumbled across other travelling students but out of all of them, one seemed to grab his attention.
