When Wolves Lie

Mess Hall

My ears perked up as I walked through the mess hall. "You guys are so irrelevant and stupid. How even are we having a conversation about how Pokemon is better than yugioh, when clearly digimon is the best of them all," Zara scoffed in her reply to Jasper. Jasper laughed and looked at Rachael, "Can you believe what this moron is spouting?" Rachael shrugged and moved up next to me. "You gonna acknowledge these idiots or just keep walking," she asked as she yawned. I huffed and rolled my eyes as I replied, "I think imma sit this one out." I looked around a bit as if searching for someone. Just then I smiled as I saw AJ and Connor walking towards us. "You know Ash you seem out of it lately..." Rachael conveyed as her ears became visible. I shrugged some. "Just missing my family is all. They haven't visited in forever. Plus it's not like I can just willy-nilly walk out. Don't have this bunk ass shit under control yet." She sort of hummed and just nodded. With that the conversation was over. 

Zara and Jasper had still been there arguing. Meanwhile Rachael walked towards AJ and Connor. They were a few steps back, but Rachael kept her distance in check and stayed near me. They all started talking and I shook my head. I stood there kinda left out and my thoughts wondered off again. (Oh! Wait a minute... Here I am blabbering on and I haven't even introduced myself properly. My name is Ashley, but my close friends call me Ash. In the case of my best friend I get called Queenie. At least it's justified. Anyways yea well that's me and this is my story. These dorks all conversing with one and other are my friends. Zara and Jasper are twins and bicker like an old married couple. Connor is Rachael's boyfriend and AJ is my best friend. Well Rachael is too, hence the reason she stays near me. She worries too much, but I mean overall it's just because she cares. AJ is like my number one tho and they both know that, but I don't think it's ever really mattered. Anyways back to the story.) 

I didn't think Rachael would catch onto my state of space, but I mean it's kinda hard to miss. I miss my family you guys. I hate living in an extremely elaborate underground tunnel system. It fucking sucks ass. It's not like I asked to be part of a sacred lineage of giant fucking furrballs. I rolled my eyes in irritation and AJ, who I didn't even know was looking at me, saw. I snapped back to reality and just stared at her soft honey golden eyes. I sighed softly our gaze never breaking. She walked away from Rachael and Connor. She headed towards me and stopped right in front of me. She bit her bottom lip and I broke our gaze to look down at her lips. The only other thing I loved more than her beautiful eyes and her insanely mesmerizing body, were her lips. They were so soft and luscious. She saw and smiled softly. I fucking died ... I love her smile. 

You guys my best friend was the most amazingly gorgeous creature to ever walk planet earth. She poked my cheek and kinda had a small blush playing across her face. I smiled. Blushing was not something she ever did in front of people. She's only ever let me see her vulnerable side. Neither of us needed to have our guard up when we were with the other. Hey those are some of the perks of being best friends. I watched her as she shifted from her left to her right. "What's the matter Queenie?" She asked as she pointed backwards for me to get in the breakfast line.

 I walked backwards so I could look at her while I talked. "I miss my family Jay. I can't freaking remember the last time is saw them," I say sliding my hand through my short brownish blonde hair. She sort of tilted her head as to say Ahh. "Well, have you tried writing or calling?" She asked as we kept moving in line. I nodded, "Yea, but I want to go see them. I miss being at home with them and with you..." I say almost catching on that last part. She leaned against me, smiling. She slowly slid her hand into mine. "I miss it too stupid," She says as we walk with each other. I hummed as we walked hand in hand. Holding her hand was one of my favorite things to do. It calmed me down sometimes. "You know what upsets me?" I asked as I looked at her. "Hmm?" She hummed in response. "That our parents didn't even bother to tell us that puberty was gonna be different for us." She laughed and nodded. "Yea a heads up would have been nice. Oh well what can you do about it now when you already turn into a giant Wolf." She said as we grabbed our trays already. 

She let go of my hand so she could serve herself. I frowned a bit, but shook my head to refocus. "Just sucks is all. I mean don't get me wrong being a wolf is awesome and stuff, but fuck. We have to live down here until we're able to control it and stuff." She nodded, "Yea I know. Hey on the bright side you're here with Rach and I." I hummed softly and smiled. "Yea. Ironically you'd think that me being 20 I'd have already gotten it down. Dad says the girls of our lineage take longer to get it down tho." She nodded her head, "Yea dad says the same about me, but i don't actually turn 20 for another couple weeks." "Still i mean Rach makes sense she's only 17 and so are Zara and Jasper. Mind you they are royal half breeds. You and I are royal full breeds. At least it makes sense as to why it's taking forever," I say as we walked to the table and all sat down. I sit in between Zara and AJ while Rach sits in front of me. 

Connor sits in front of AJ and Jasper in front of Zara. Our sitting arrangements had always been like this. I loved it. AJ and I paused our conversation so we could eat knowing full well we'd probably continue it later in our room. Here in WDC Academy or Immortal Hell as i like to call it; We at least get the option of picking our roommates. I picked AJ and Zara picked Rachael. The guys switched mid year, but still. I loved that AJ and I had a whole big room to ourselves. Most times Zara and Rachael were in it with us, but it was always nice when it's just the two of us. I snapped back to earth and started eating. It was Friday so the only thing we had today was to help the elders clean the mess hall after every meal. 30 minutes passed and we'd all been finished. We all looked around at each other and decided we were gonna skip cleaning duty. We got up and made it our way through all the mess hall chaos and quickly dipped out of there.

We had all gone back to our rooms to chill out for a bit before our plans for later. I walked into the room first and AJ followed. She closed the door behind us and she picked up her caramel colored hair. She tied it into a ponytail and laid on my bed. I smiled some and my ears appeared. I knew that when she laid on my bed it's because she wanted to cuddle. I am all for cuddles especially with her. I laid down with her. I placed my head on her chest and wrapped my arms around her torso. She slid one hand into my hair and used the other for her phone. We intertwined our legs and just laid there quietly listening to music. She played with my hair and slowly i became sleepy. I yawned now and again until finally i slowly drifted off. I felt her shifting a bit to where she was facing me and my head end up on the pillow. She pulled the blanket over the both of us and loosely, but firmly held me close. I gripped the front of her shirt softly and the words slipped out without me even knowing. "I...love...you." I smiled softly and fell asleep holding on to her.
