Dear Readers,
Vampires. Even the name makes humans flinch with fear from the abyss. Their pale skin couldn't tolerate the sun, and their fangs always seen dripping in fresh blood. Luckily they're not real, right?

Wrong, trust me I know. I am one. Though I'm not what you imagine. I can bathe in sunlight, after all, it's where I get my energy from, my skin isn't pale, but tanned from being out all day, and my fangs aren't dripping in blood, but just sit there, which is a pain to conceal. Our weakness is not garlic, but our human-like weaknesses are. Falling, burning, drowning. We're basically just like humans, the only difference is we have fangs, drink animal blood and harness our life energy by the sun.

Thousands of years ago, humans feared us as many rulers inflicted the bad image that we were blood suckers and mindless killers. A huge reward was placed on top of us, claiming that whoever turned in a vampire, dead or alive, would get twenty pounds, which was a jackpot in those days. So the vampires rolled in, and the vampires were burned on stakes. However, a   'genius' by the name of Richard Hamilton, who thought of us being burnt on stakes wasn't fun enough, had the 'brilliant' idea to make us fight in the 'Vampire Games'. The 'idea' was to hold us in a prison and every year, 18 vampires were chosen by the humans, and were forced to fight to the death in the games. All the humans were overwhelmed by his idea, and decided it would became a tradition. And so, the left over vampires were placed in a town surrounded in towering brick walls, this town was known as the Captivity. They were chained with steaming hot weights that dug into their skin, as we were trained to fight by the humans. Punishments for disobeying and stealing included being whipped and burned.

Even to this day, the Vampire Games are being held and forcing us to fight to the death as a punishment for being us.

My name is Jordan, an orphan in the Captivity for being a vampire. This is my story.
