Imperfect Android

Chapter 14

The sun was starting to set. It's golden rays washed over Gallows Industries.
Teagen was in her kitchen. She rummaged through the cabinets to find some food. After checking each cabinet, she finally found a cup of instant ramen. Teagen cooked her dinner and brought it to the couch. She ate as she browsed the channels on the tv.

A couple hours past and finally Teagen decided to go to bed. She trudged into the bedroom and put on a pair of pink pajamas that were laying on the bed. She put her uniform on the small desk near the window. Teagen got into the soft bed and gently laid her head onto the pillow.

Soon enough it was morning. Teagen got ready for work. As she was about to leave, a beeping came from the intercom. Teagen tapped the screen.
"Good morning Teagen." Lenore said cheerfully. "Mr. Gallows requests you to go to the lab on floor 8."
"Okay. Thanks for the information." Teagen replied.
Teagen made her way to the elevator. She pressed the button for the eighth floor. The elevator dinged and she walked out. People crowded the halls.
It's never been this crowded around here. She thought.
Teagen turned the hall and saw a room with a sign that said: Testing and Development Laboratory.
Teagen noticed a touchpad near the door. She took out her pass from her pocket and held it in front of the screen. The little beep sounded as she walked in. Rows of long white tables filled the room. Shiny glass vials covered them making the room practically glow.
Mr. Gallows was at one of the desks waiting.
"Hello."he said calmly.
Just then Teagen's father walked in. He glanced about the room in amazement from all the advanced technology.
"This is truly amazing!"he said looking about the room.
"Well, it's the best equipment money could buy." Mr. Gallows said.
Teagen's father walked over to face Mr. Gallows at the table he was standing over.
"So...what will be working on today?"
"Today we are doing some design on another android. I have created the mechanical parts for it. I now must link the parts so it can work together in its internal layer." Mr. Gallows replied.
"A-alright then."
"What do I do?", Teagen asked.
"Hand me the mechanical parts. They are in that bin under the table.", he said pointing to it.
Teagen bent down and slid out the bin. She carried it over to Mr. Gallows and gingerly set it on the floor. Mr. Gallows tapped the code on the lock screen while covering what the code was. The lock opened revealing miscellaneous metal limbs, legs, and other parts in the box.
"Is THAT what I am made from?" Teagen asked.
"Yes, you are." Mr. Gallows said grabbing a mechanical arm.
Teagen bent her arm back and forth, baffled at the mechanics of it. Mr. Gallows began linking the parts with these bendable metal wires.
"Here. Screw in these bolts connecting the wire and arms." Mr. Gallows said handing the wrench to Teagen's father.
He began screwing them in tightly so they wouldn't disconnect. Then Mr. Gallows linked more parts together till it actually looked like a person. Her father continued screwing in legs and metal rib cages. 4 hours later they finally finished.
"Perfect. Now we have the mechanical base."
The android had arms, legs, ribs hip bones, a spine, and other parts all connected together. It was truly an engineering masterpiece.
"Now all we need is the outer cover.", Mr. Gallows said sneering.
"Where are you going to get that?"Teagen said as she was cleaning up the area.
"Is it from the underground morgue sir?" Teagen's father asked. "There are probably some donated bodies down there."he said a bit nervously.
Just thinking about the bodies made Teagen sick.
"No. I don't think there are any left. I guess we have to get a new one." Mr. Gallow said reaching into his pocket.
"Sir....what do you mean by that?"
"It means that someone must be sacrificed." he said pulling out a sharp knife."For the greater good of humanity."
Mr. Gallows twirled the knife in his hand, smiling a satanic smile.
"Mr. Gallows stop!" Teagen said frantically.
"Like I told you before, Teagen. Some people in this world matter. And others are pawns just waiting to be killed."
"Sir, stop this talk at once! P-put down that weapon!" her father shouted.
"I mean, the only reason I hired you, Jerdin, was to obtain a new body. Nothing more."
"No! Don't go anywhere near my father!" Teagen screamed as her father backed towards the door.
Teagen's father pressed the button by the door, ready to escape the lab, but nothing happened.
"Don't waste your time. The door is locked. There is no escaping."
Teagen's father rammed himself at the door, trying to knock it down, but it was solid steel. He ran to the window and tried to open it, but it too was locked.
"The windows won't open. Even if you did manage to get out one of them, there is a chance you could fall of the ledge and die."
Teagen's father reached for his cell phone, but couldn't find it anywhere. Mr. Gallows held the phone and waved it around.
"Took this off of you in case you tried to call for help."
Her father was truly stuck. He couldn't escape this fate.
Mr. Gallows ran towards her father, cornering him against the wall. Teagen's father leaned against the wall closing his eyes. Tears flowed out across his cheek.
"Teagen I am sorry. Sorry I never told you about you being an android.....I don't know what else to say other than I care about you!"
Teagen charged at Mr. Gallows. All of a sudden a metal clamp latched around her ankle. She fell onto the floor as two more clamps emerged from the tiles on the floor. They held her wrists together.
She tried to get up, but the chains pulled at her arms and leg leaving her stuck. Teagen began to cry. She pulled again and again, but it was no use.
"Now, Teagen. You may watch as your father is executed for the greater good of humanity!"
Mr. Gallows laughed as he clutched the knife. He held it up then stabbed Teagen's father in the heart. He cried out in agony.
He fell to the ground clutching his chest as crimson blood poured out of it.
"TEAGEN!", he screeched as his eyes opened up a crack.
He looked over at his defenseless daughter, chained to the ground. She couldn't stop crying.
"FATHER!" she screamed.
Her father's eyes' both closed as he smiled one last caring fatherly smile as his tears flowed. He then stopped moving.
"Your sacrifice was much appreciated. Mr. Gallows said as he stared at his dead body.
