I am now in class listening to what the professor has to say as I am writing down notes. The class is over now. My friends come to me and ask me if I wanted to come to a party with them and I gladly respond "of course". As we are getting dressed for the party Celeste warns Layla and me to not accept drinks from anyone we don't know. Then Layla says "fuck, but drinks are so expensive. I think it would be fine as long as they don't look suspicious." Then I say "why would water or juice be that expensive. How can drinking those be dangerous? Layla, what does fuck mean?'' I have never heard that word before." Then Layla responds, "how do you not know that word?" Then Celeste says, "remember, her parents never let us say any cuss words in front of her. We were also never allowed to take you to any parties, Jaelynn. That is why you don't understand the dangers of accepting drinks from people". I got really mad at them for leaving me out of a lot of parties they went to in high school and hiding words from me, so I told them "Why would you ever listen to my parents about what to do with me? Why didn't you tell me?!" Celeste and Layla both respond saying, "Because your parents wouldn't let us hang out with you if we were a bad influence so we never told you that we went to parties without you in high school. We are so sorry, but now your parents are out of the picture so we can take you where ever you want to go because they aren't there to tell us what to not say or do in front of you." I then tell them "don't worry about it. So no more secrets, right?" "Right." I think my parents hid many things from me. Could it be true that they may have been lying about everything they told me? What if the fairy story isn't true? What if babies come from somewhere else? I have never seen fairies drop off babies before, so why would that make sense? What if boys weren't actually gross and they didn't have cooties?. I ask these questions to myself in my head as I am putting on my heels as I head to the first party I have ever went to.
